Workshop by Fiona Stephenson - Bladder Management, Safe Positioning & Pressure Ulcer Prevention:
Attended by 22 healthcare professionals from Indonesia, Malaysia and Korea.
Sr Diah presented a case study of a patient with bladder management issues. A useful analysis of symptoms and further discussion highlighted the methodology of intermittent catheterisation used in Indonesia. The conclusion was that Sr Diah would ensure that female patients were taught to self catheterise using a mirror rather than closing their eyes to visualise the urethral orifice. An example of catheter hygiene and storage was explained with reference to Haiti and a 3 year follow up study that was carried out there.
