It is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The official NAIDOC Week is during the holidays from the 4 to 11 July. This year NSW Public Schools will celebrate NAIDOC Week from 21 to 25 June (Week 10) to fit into the school term. The Theme of NAIDOC Week is ‘Heal Country’ On Monday 21 st of June Beverly Hills Public School will be recognising the importance of NAIDOC Week with a smoking ceremony, led by Koomurri Entertainment. The ceremony will begin at 9:30am. A smoking ceremony is an ancient Aboriginal custom in Australia that involves burning various native plants to produce smoke, which has cleansing properties creating a pathway for a brighter future. Additional activities will also occur during the week in classrooms. Parents and carers are invited to the school to watch this special ceremony. A reminder to all parents on site to check in using the QR code and sign in on sign on sheets located at the entrance of the school. At BHPS we are Safe, Respectful Learners
