To Whom It May Concern,

I am pleased and honored to write this letter of recommendation for Brooke Stewart Armstrong. She was

a student teacher in my kindergarten classroom from September 4 - December 4, 2015. She also worked in my

room throughout the 2014-15 school year when she did her observation hours required before student teaching.

Brooke did an exemplary job in all areas of her teaching during her time in my classroom.

Brooke has an intuitive sense for teaching. She is confident, caring, and knowledgeable about her subject

matter. She was always prepared for her job, yet she was flexible when things needed to be changed without

notice. She was able to discern how a lesson was being perceived by the students and she was able to change her

delivery if needed. Brooke was very caring with the students. She is a happy, fun-loving young woman and has a

positive attitude which helped to make the classroom a safe, caring environment for the students; one in which

they knew they were valued. Our population as a Title I school presents many challenges for teachers, including

behavior issues and the unmet personal needs of the children, which often impacts a student's day at school.

Brooke understood these issues and was able to accommodate the unique needs of the individual students in this

regard.

Brooke was active in our after-school parent/family activities such as Math Night, Literacy Night, Family

Fun Night, and parent/teacher conferences as well as various PD opportunities within our district. Two years ago

our district implemented the DII (Direct Interactive Instruction) model in which we actively teach the students our

goals and objectives. This is a new way of teaching that Brooke hadn't been taught in college, yet she embraced it

and did well using the model. Brooke took on all the teaching responsibilities effortlessly and she did her lesson

planning without very much assistance from me. She was creative in her planning and delivery of lessons. Brooke

also composed some newsletters/questionnaires for parents about activities within our classroom.

Brooke fit in well within our school community. She has a very pleasant, relaxed manner that enables her

to get along with others, but she also has a strong enough disposition that she was confident and comfortable

while actively par.ticipating in group discussions and activities. Her insights during meetings were always helpful

and acknowledged by others. Brooke often offered to help other teachers, especially our grade level colleagues.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Brooke and will miss her throughout the rest of the school year. I

would highly recommend Brooke for a teaching position. She will be an asset to any school lucky enough to have

her as a partner within their teaching team. I would welcome the chance to work with Brooke as a colleague.

If you have any questions, please contact me at one of the addresses on this letter or at 517-265-5082

Sincerely,
