Report on Previous Month Program held on 13th July 2014Avopa organised a talk on Skin White Patches, (Leucoderma / Vitiligo) by Dr. SDN.Gupta, a very seniorand popular skin specialist of our community Sri N A Shankaranarayana Setty, President welcomed all the members present. Dr. Gupta made a PPT presentation to make his lecture more effective.

He saluted his parents and Sri Sathya Sai Baba before commencement of his lecture.SOME POINTS he narrated are listed below:Skin color is produced by Melanin. if it is not produced it loses its color and results in white patches. It is not a decease. In Earlier days , some of the Hotel and Restaurants used to display a Board that such patients have no admission. It is a inherited one but all the children do not necessarily get that kind of skin. small patches can be cured at early stages. This occurrence is more in PATEGAR community. Religion or socio economic conditions are not causes. Honey Lemon consumed to increase vitamin c in the Body may or not be a cause. LEPROSY IS CONTAGIOUS BUT NOT VITILIGO.There are several kinds of Vitiligo, some of them are curable by several ways. Leucoderma may be on account of leather shoes, chappals or purses coming into close contact of the skin. The occurrence is more in Argentina and more number of treatments are also available in Argentina. Surgical process is not a complicated one. 19th May is observed as leucoderma day. It cannot be prevented, It may occur at the time of birth or subsequently. Vitamin D is good to avoid and cure. Sunbath between 10.30 am and 11.30 is very much suggested.President sri N.A.Shankaranarayana Setty, explained the various activities of Avopa and requested members present to contribute for AVOPA HOSTEL PROJECT and Book Bank project. He complimented the services rendered by Sri P.C.Balaraj, President Avopa Charitable Trust and greeted him with a garland as it was his birthday.
