Dear Members, Donors and Readers,
Recently I heard a quote 'The strength of a chain, is the strength of its weakest link'. I believe this concept is the theme based on which, the government talks of “Inclusion” of those, who are left out in the society. Similarly in our community also we have many, who are poverty stricken and are backward educationally and economically. At AVOPA, we are constantly attempting to take up projects aimed at inclusion of those, who are left out. Our scholarship scheme, is one such activity. It aims at motivating indigent students by recognising and rewarding them. In a glittering gathering, in the presence of the elders of the community, when they are recognised, I have seen them walking with pride. They know the community cares for them and would stand by them. I really look forward to all the members joining hands and show that they care for the future of the younger generation.
One of the important futuristic activities which I had mentioned previously, is the hostel for girls/boys. We have been studying the present hostel infrastructure and are evolving a plan for providing hostel facility. This is a bold step in the inclusion of our youth. It is hoped that this project would make a difference to the profile of our community.
We have celebrated Shivarathri last month and prayed Lord Shiva for blessings to cleanse our soul. My Ugadi greetings to all of you. I wish the new year will be an year of prosperity and peace. We take prasadam of Bevu and Bella signifying the reality of life, where we encounter difficult and joyous moments. I wish, all of us resolve to be happy and take on challenges as they come.
I invite donations to the Scholarship Scheme and to the Book Bank Project to further consolidate and expand the youth building activity.
