Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly.

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower,

whose top .. unto heaven; and let us make us a name,

the city and the tower, which the children of men built.

And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

MARDUKThe chief god of the city of Babylon and the national god of Babylonia; as such he was eventually called simply Bel, or Lord( or Baal). Originally he seems to have been a god of thunderstorms. A poem, known as Enuma Elish and dating from .. (1124–03 BC), relates Marduk's rise to such pre-eminence that he was the god of 50 names, each one that of a deity or of a divine attribute. After conquering the monster of primeval chaos, Tiamat, he became Lord of the Gods of Heaven and Earth. All nature, including man, owed its existence to him; the destiny of kingdoms and subjects was in his hands.

…..for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

And what agreement hath the house of God with idols? for ye are the house of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord MOST HIGH

Isa 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

Isa 17:7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. Isa 17:8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

Isa 31:7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.

Isa 44:13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

; yea, he maketh a god, and worshipeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

Isa 44:17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshipeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

“ Basic Principles of Idolatry”

You become like your idols

Psa 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. Psa 115:5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: Psa 115:6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: Psa 115:7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. Psa 115:8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them

“Eating things sacrificed to idols is a bad thing”

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
