• April 1-6, 2009 -Banner V8 Implementation Surveyo 18 institutions participated
• Survey results:o Proceed with the current implementation schedule resulting in a production
release of April 30, 2009, campus upgrade in Test by Fall 09, and campus upgrade in Production by 1/1/10 10 campuses
o Production release of Spring 2010 with a Production upgrade by September 2010 (the SGHE desupport date for V7) would work better for my institution 8 campuses
Banner V8 Final Schedule
Presented at the April ACIT meeting:

• Rationale:Sungard's recent announcement to extend support of Banner version 7.x through September 1, 2010 coupled with many changes occurring to systems used by the majority of campuses including ADP Shared Services project, PS Financials Consolidation and Vista V8 migrationThe new timeline is expected to offer the following key benefits• Institution flexibility in scheduling to match resource availability• Ability to release a version of Banner that has been tested with the functional Vista 8,
ADP, and Consolidated Financials systems

• Pre-release beta available - 7/1/09o Campuses that have a significant number of local
modifications could use the early access opportunity to get a “head start” with evaluating and uplifting their local modifications in a Banner 8 environment.
Banner V8 Upgrade Time Line
Banner OS Update
• OIIT will no longer build and distribute custom operating system releases. Basic installation assistance, as well as any relevant configuration settings used during our test and certification process, will be provided. We will be available to respond to support questions, but may have to transfer complex cases to the vendors' support channel.
• OIIT will continue to test and certify GaMods for use with Solaris and HP-UX; however, OIIT will add Red Hat Enterprise Linux to this process.
• Customers may continue to install and make use of our current Solaris 9 and HP-UX 11.11 operating system releases for as long as those OS versions are supported by OIIT for use with GaMods (9/1/10).

• Currently facilitating pass through support for Solaris 10, HP-UX 11.31 and Red Hat RHEL 5o no remediation of GaModso campus assumes responsibility for GaMods that do
not perform correctly• Q1 - Q3 2009 – OIIT internal dev/test/remediation of
GaMods on new operating systems• Q4 2009 – begin limited production support for new

Banner V8 UpdateEnhanced Functionality
• Change Request 1201894619 (ZHRFARR)Modifications to add the amount columns to exceptions report output from ZHAFARR, the HOPE reconciliation report. The amounts are needed from both, the Surfer data file and from the Banner amount.• Change Request 1196263237 (ZOBSAPR)
Modifications to allow an optional, additional parameter for RORSTAT record = Y/N. This will allow schools the opportunity to process SAP (using ZOBSAPR) on students whether they have a financial aid record or not. ZOBSGRP would also need to be modified to accommodate this request, since it also processes students with a RORSTAT record only. • Change Request 1175697683 (GetSTUMAIL)
New functionality to allow ALL Self-Service users the ability to search for student's email address stored in the E-mail Address Form (GOREMAL). A menu item link called "Student Email Address Search" will be created on the non-secured Banner self-service homepage. When the link is clicked, a "Search Student Email Address" webpage will search for student email address based on all or part of the student name. A search of the Email Address Form (GOREMAL) is performed and the result is displayed on another web page.

o Partial Character Masking – Added the ability to partially mask character fields
o Supplemental Data Engine – Add data fields to Banner forms
o Support of Unicode international character set through standard UTF8.
