• We are responsible to take care of the poor by giving an obligated charity (zakat) to those in need.

• To ensure this takes place, Allah has obligated for us to make an annual payment of 2.5% of our wealth and assets to the poor.

• This payment only becomes an obligation if our wealth is above a certain level.

• There are 8 categories of people who are eligible to receive zakat (Quran 9:60)

1. Belief in Allah• To believe in One God. Same God for

all of mankind. In Arabic – Allah•Allah is the Creator and Provider of

everything. He is worthy of worship. •Allah has no partners, no father or

mother, no son or daughter. •Allah cannot be compared to His

creation. There is nothing like Allah.

Knowledge of Allah is limitless, He is Loving, Wise and Just, so we believe His decree for us is the best.
