Arboriculture Placement

Shadow an Arboriculture Officer from Birmingham City Council and gain a range of experience including the ongoing project of Tree Preservation Order (TPO) review, as there are over 1400 orders this is a long term task. On average 50 new TPOs a year are made and the team are consulted on approximately 800 planning applications and about the same number of work applications to protected trees. Much experience can be gained in seeing how BS3998:2010 Tree works, BS5837:2012 Trees in Relation to Design Demolition and Construction, the new BS8545:2014 Young Trees and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 work in reality.
Although the post is not salaried Birmingham City Council will provide
lunch vouchers for use in their own on site cafe to the value of £5 daily
and will consider the payment of reasonable travel costs, to be
discussed at interview.

Grain Store Manager based at Oakley, Buckinghamshire
Job Description
The candidate would be responsible for the day to day running of a modern 10,000 tonne grain store.
Duties to include:
• Weighing in and sampling of lorries
• Testing of commodities and logging data on grain store software computer system
• Operating two intake pits leading to a cleaner and drier and ultimately the grain store
• Liaising with grain merchants and hauliers
• Cleaning the store prior to and during harvest
• General farm work as required
The candidate would need to be physically fit and have good people skills. A level head and ability to
remain calm is a necessity when multiple lorries arrive simultaneously. It is important that the candidate
is a team player with enthusiasm to muck in and have a go, along with inputting ideas to help the
operation run smoother. Good computer skills are essential along with a willingness to work long hours
and weekends when required.
LF Pearce & Son are arable farmers and agricultural contractors, running modern and up to date
machinery. We store 7000 tonnes of Oilseed Rape for United Oilseeds. Farmers and hauliers deliver to
the site, where the oilseed rape is assessed for moisture, cleanliness and is conditioned as required. We
also store for local farmers, along with cleaning and drying for grain merchants. We offer a lively place to
work, with a great chance to gain a huge amount of experience in all aspects of crop production from field

The Abbey Visitor Experience Team is currently recruiting part time seasonal staff to join them from April until November 2014, on an ‘as & when’ basis. Weekend and Bank holiday working will be required as will ‘special event’ days.
You will be required to work across the Abbey visitor areas; which will include selling admission tickets, selling retail products in the shop, assisting in the tea rooms through to carrying out orientation talks and supporting the events programme.
