    Blogging Plan

    This blogging plan is based upon the proposal submitted to Denise Hammrich, principal at All SaintsCatholic School. The class blog will be updated twice a week, consisting of a general class update onMondays and specific updates in listed subject areas on Fridays . Each post will be written in commentaryformat. The general class update will consist of upcoming events and classroom information. The subject

    area posts will contain information pertaining to specific subject areas being taught. These postings willprovide parents/guardians with an overview of what the students have been learning about throughoutthe week and ways they can assist their children. Periodic polls will also be posted for both students andparents to participate in. Upon receipt of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), students will also be postingcomments to the site, using only their initials to identify the author.

    General Comments Posting Schedule:

    8/5/13 Welcome to the 4 th grade post pertaining to expectations of both the students andparents/guardians.

    8/12/13 List of school supplies needed for the year. Please note that anything not on the list will besent home due to the limited storage space in the classroom.

    8/19/13 Reminder of the ice cream social and to drop school supplies off. This will be an opportunityfor the students to acquaint themselves with the classroom and where they will sitting on theirfirst day of 4 th grade.

    8/26/13 Publish dates of upcoming field trips and other important events9/9/13 Provide parents/guardians with a copy of the Acceptable Use Policy for technology at All Saints

    Catholic School. A signed copy is required prior to any use of technology.9/16/13 Publish a reminder of the importance of the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test and

    how to prepare students. Students need to have adequate rest, a good breakfast, and a stressfree morning. They also need to understand the importance of taking their time during the testand using their best test taking strategies.

    9/23/13 Publish the calendar of dates the 4 th grade will be leading Mass. Parents/guardians will beencouraged to attend Mass and if possible, serve as eucharist ministers.

    9/30/13 General update of the first month of school, including schedule changes.

    Subject Area Posting Schedule:

    8/9/13 Reminder to review math facts focusing primarily on multiplication.8/16/13 Reminder to read at least 20 minutes daily.8/23/13 Publish weekly academic schedule including P.E., Spanish, music, library, and art.8/30/13 Discuss the Learning About Lewiston with the students and the writing expectations associated

    with the project.9/6/13 Discuss the digital book review project and provide students with examples. Explain how they

    are going to create a digital library of book reviews and a personal portfolio of all books readthroughout the year. Slide presentations will be created documenting the book review andVoiceThread will be used to narrate.

    9/13/13 Review Accelerated Math with students, showing them where the folders are kept, and discusssetting a personal goal.

    9/20/13 Provide writing expectations explaining that the majority of the final projects will be submittedusing Google Apps for Education. Review with the students the Acceptable Use Policy (APU)previously returned to school and the importance of Internet security. Students will be giveninstruction on how to use Google Apps for Education and sharing documents.

    9/27/13 - Post a list of prayers which will be learned throughout the year. These prayers will be workedon during religion class and a final assessment will be made in May.
