The coach has met all the players.

The has an excellent team this year.

Mother does the cleaning every weekend.

Mother does clean on the weekends.

Helping Verbs

 Helping verbs combines with a main verb to help it express tense, mood, and voice

Helping verbs help main verbs express precise shades of meaning.

EXAMPLES:  I have bought a new car.    I am going for a walk  The muffins are cooling by the window.

EXAMPLES He has  a car.

She has gone out.

Function of the Helping Verbs

Definition: To have a specific qualification or relationship.

•Use with Past participle with a passive voice.

-The door was opened

•Use present participle to express a continuous action.

-Katy is watching television

•Use a helping verb with to and infinitive verb to express futurity, prearrangement or obligation.

-You are to be back on the base by midnight.

Function of the Helping Verbs

 Use as helping verb: To make negatives: •I didn’t know it was you.To ask questions:• Do you like broccoli?To show emphasis: •I do want you to eat your broccoli.To stand for a main verb:• Sam like broccoli more than Carmen does.

Definition:To bring to pass, to accomplish, to act, behave and to be active or busy .

Have

Definition: To hold in possession, also hold in one’s use, service or regard. Use as helping verb with the past participle, past perfect or future perfect.

-have finished washing the dishes. -He has never traveled by train.

-He had won the election.
