In the spirit of reconciliation, the Cairns Regional Council acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. 2020 has been a very difficult year for everyone. With so many challenges, we are having to do many things a little differently including our annual Carols by Candlelight event.

Given COVID restrictions and all that means, we have created an online production titled Carols in Cairns to showcase the diversity of our community’s talent and the beauty of our region while celebrating the coming festive season. This special production will be broadcast on Council’s YouTube platform on Sunday 6 December from 6:30pm

As part of this online event, we want to ensure that you will be ready to switch on your Christmas Tree lights at home at about 6:40pm – the same time we will have a special guest turning on Council’s Christmas Tree in the CBD.

But don’t worry if you miss seeing Carols in Cairns that night – you will still be able to watch the show on Council’s You Tube platform and even share the link to all your family and friends who may live outside of Cairns. It’s our way of bringing families together when they are not here in Cairns.
