Christmas Message FROM THE MAYOR

Welcome to Carss Bush Park for Magic of Christmas 2019. Council looks forward to hosting this special event each year. It has become a tradition for many and is the perfect opportunity to get into the festive spirit and celebrate with family and friends.

Tonight you will enjoy some fantastic entertainment, including Sydney Vocal Academy, TK Dance Stars, Jump St Performers, Bindi + Jeremy, Paw Patrol, The Steeples, JMC Gospel Group, Sesame Street Christmas and popular children’s performer Colin Buchanan.

There will also be a special visit from Santa later in the evening and the night will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display over Kogarah Bay.

Magic of Christmas is the first of many events in Council’s 2019/20 Summer Events Program. Don’t miss out on more free events, including our Lunar New Year Festival which falls on 18 January 2020, closely followed by our Australia Day Festival celebrations.

EMCEE - KERSTYN WALSH Kerstyn has been on stage her whole life - in theatre, as an emcee and singing with her band. After graduating from Screenwise, she has starred in short films, TV ads and plays across different genres, most recently as Shelby in 'Steel Magnolias'. Her musical theatre credits include playing Maureen in 'RENT', Cinderella in 'Into the Woods' and Marty in 'Grease'. She believes it's important to always better her skills, so she continues to study with Sandra-Lee Patterson. An avid writer, Kerstyn is currently producing the web series she wrote with writing partner, R. Williams.

SYDNEY VOCAL ACADEMYSydney Vocal Academy (SVA) is a thriving community of singers based in Kirrawee that welcomes students of all ages and experience levels. COLIN BUCHANANColin Buchanan’s remarkable career embraces country music, children’s TV and song collaboration (he co-wrote 'I Am Invictus' with Lee Kernaghan for the 2018 Invictus Games opening ceremony). He’s a beloved ABC TV Play School presenter, winner of ARIA, APRA and Golden Guitar awards, and proud creator of the Bucko & Champs hit, the classic 'Aussie Jingle Bells'.

Colin is a regular guest on Richard Glover’s top rating ABC radio comedy show, 'Thank God it’s Friday', bringing his unique musical spin to the events of the week. BINDI + JEREMYBelinda and Jeremy have been playing music together for over 10 years. They are a highly respected and sought after duo, working all over Sydney, at weddings, receptions and small intimate gigs. Their love for the same style of music, and passion to make people fall in love with song, drives them to give their best performance on every occasion.

They have shared the stage and played with some of Australias best musicians, vocalists and performers including Marcia Hines, Delta Goodrem, Julian Hamilton (The Presets) and Shannon Noll.

THE JMC GOSPEL GROUPThe JMC Gospel Group is an exciting, energetic new group of singers and musicians currently studying or teaching music at JMC Academy Sydney. The group consists of members from a diverse musical and cultural background who celebrate their love of African/ American Gospel Music with rich vocal harmonies, infectious grooves and uplifting performances.
