with this event in a limited capacity. Event starts at

8am each day.

Sept 27th - EAA Chapter 237’s 2nd Annual Builder’s Bash! This is to

celebrate some of our recently completed, restored, re-certified and inspect-

ed chapter aircraft. Event runs from 10am-2pm. Starting from 10am-12pm,

free flights in member aircraft commence followed by food and fun from

12pm-2pm with the picnic & potluck! Please bring a dish to share and the

chapter will provide refreshments and meats for grilling. This event

takes place of our monthly chapter meeting.

The 14th annual Forest Lake, MN Airport Open House and Fly-In Event was a great success again thanks to a lot of hard work by many of our chapter 237 members who volunteered! It was great to have nice weather and many planes in attendance. I do not know who came the farthest, however, my cousin flew in from Tea South of Sioux Falls, SD to join in the fun. We served lots of breakfasts, the pedal planes and Aqua Jet were going all day and 157 Young Eagles were given rides. Now this Saturday is the HUGE AOPA fly-in at our home airport, Anoka County-Blaine Airport (ANE). We will have the opportunity

to show that EAA spirit again. We will start the morning off like every good fly-in should, with a pancake breakfast. We are preparing delicious pancakes, sausage patties and accompanying them with fruit, juice, water, and Flying High Coffee. There is no setup and we’re starting at 6am to get the sausages cooking. While enjoying breakfast, there

will be entertainment by aviation humorist Rob Machado.

Kirk is maintaining the list of volunteers and has all the signup info. Aside from the breakfast staffing, we will also have both the EAA tent and the drink tent to staff as well. The EAA volunteers get cool free t-shirts. While volunteering is great, we want you to work 1-2 hour shifts, so everyone gets to see the fly-in and enjoy all that this unique event has to offer. Our chapter volunteers play a pivotal role. Let all try to volunteer and help make this AOPA Fly-In a success!

EAA’s Charley Becker and a staff person plan to bring the “One Week Wonder” over Friday for the EAA tent. If possible, please plan to promote our Chapter 237 in the tent for an hour!

Those working in the following AOPA areas: event setup, parking aircraft, directing ground transportation, greeting guests, managing flow of aircraft and guests, event tear-down will receive a free lunch, t-shirt, and baseball cap, and the appreciation of AOPA.

On Friday night, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., there is the Barnstormers Party at Surfside Seaplane Base, featuring a BBQ, bonfire, live entertainment and the camaraderie of your fellow aviation enthusiasts. Cost is $15 when you register in advance or $20 onsite.

Friday 7pm, don’t miss an aerobatic performance by John Klatt, who is one of the top aerobatic performance pilots in America!
