Not sure what to but someone for Christmas? Get them to guess what you got them. You now have a bunch of ideas

of what they want.

Eating Christmas dinner and need to sneeze but don’t want to? Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth, and it’s gone.

Stressed about Christmas? Smell oranges. The smell of an orange can relive stress.

Use two eggs and ½ a cup of oil to turn any cake mix into cookie dough.

Use plastic cups to neatly store your ornaments

Wrap Christmas lights around a hanger to keep them from getting tangled

Holiday History

By Micah Gallegos Christmas according to Wikipedia: Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed most com-monly on December 25th as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it is preceded by the sea-son of Advent or the Nativity Fast and initiates the season of Christmastide, which histori-cally in the West lasts twelve days and culminates on Twelfth Night; in some traditions, Christmastide includes an Octave. Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated religiously by a majority of Christians, as well as culturally by many non-Christians, and forms an integral part of the holiday season. In several countries, cele-brating Christmas Eve has the main focus rather than Christmas Day. Although the month and date of Jesus' birth are unknown, by the early-to-mid fourth century the Western Christian Church had placed Christmas on December 25th, a date that was later adopted in the East. Today, most Christians celebrate on December 25th in the Gre-gorian calendar, which has been adopted almost universally in the civil calendars used in countries throughout the world. However, some Eastern Christian Churches celebrate Christ-mas on December 25th of the older Julian calendar, which currently corresponds to January 7th in the Gregorian calendar, the day after the Western Christian Church celebrates the Epiphany. This is not a disagreement over the date of Christmas as such, but rather a pref-erence of which calendar should be used to determine the day that is December 25th.

Santa Claus according to HISTORY.com: In 1822, Clement Clarke Moore, an Episcopal minister, wrote a long Christmas poem for his three daughters entitled “An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas.” Moore’s poem, which he was initially hesitant to publish due to the frivolous nature of its subject, is largely responsible for our modern image of Santa Claus as a “right jolly old elf” with a portly figure and the supernatural ability to ascend a chimney with a mere nod of his head! Although some of Moore’s imagery was probably borrowed from other sources, his poem helped popularize the now-familiar image of a Santa Claus who flew from house to house on Christmas Eve–in “a miniature sleigh” led by eight flying reindeer–leaving presents for deserving children. “An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas” created a new and immediately popular American icon. In 1881, political cartoonist Thomas Nast drew on Moore’s poem to create the first likeness that matches our modern image of Santa Claus. His cartoon, which appeared in Harper’s Weekly, depicted Santa as a rotund, cheerful man with a full, white beard, holding a sack laden with toys for lucky children. It is Nast who gave Santa his bright red suit trimmed with white fur, North Pole workshop, elves, and his wife, Mrs. Claus.

Fun Events in December By Raelee Tate-Wyatt

There are many things going on in December, not only in Muskogee buy also surrounding areas in Oklahoma. The

Garden of Lights in Muskogee at Honor Heights Park is going on until January 1st. You can drive through the park

to see them. The admission to the park is FREE and the gates open at 5:30p.m.; that isn’t all to do in Muskogee.

There is also the Castle of Muskogee. It’s like Honor Heights but with Christmas Inflatables, you can go into the Castle to shop for gifts, decorations, and many

more activities for kids. The Muskogee Christmas Parade was December 2nd. The Oktaha High School Band marched in that. They will also be having a Christ-

mas concert December 14th at 7:00p.m. in the High School Gym. The Elementary and the High School Jazz Band will be performing, as well. There is no ad-

mission. It would be great if you could come! The Rhema Bible Church in Tulsa also decks out the outside with tons of colorful light displays! There is no ad-

mission to that as well, but there is concession, and that costs. Right outside the BOK Center in Tulsa as well has the Winterfest ice skating. The cost is $10 and

there are concessions there as well so you might want to bring some extra cash. In Tahlequah there is ice skating as well. Here is the schedule and prices for

that.
