A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE (TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME)—Faith is one of those things we just can’t get enough of! In today’s gospel the apostles asked Jesus to “Increase our faith.” It is faith in ourselves, our spouse, our children and our parents which equips us to overlook annoyances, helps us to forgive, and urges us to ask forgiveness. “Lord, increase our faith!”

PUBLIC SQUARE – ROSARY CRUSADE America is at a historic crossroad. Secularists are trying to push God from the public square. Without God, where will

our leaders get the wisdom to solve the great problems we face? God will hear us, if we pray through the intercession of His

Blessed Mother. That’s why we’re launching the 2016 Public Square Rosary Crusade.

Saint Louis de Monfort said: “Public prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to God and call down His mercy.

Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.”

MARRIAGE MOMENTS—Trading places with your

partner can increase your ability to understand and con-

nect with each other. The next time you have a disagree-

ment, physically trade places with your partner to remind

yourself that there is more than one way to see and under-

stand an issue. (adapted from www.CoupleTalk.com)

PARENTING POINTERS—October is Respect Life

month. Are there people in our world that you find diffi-

cult to respect? (criminals, people who are lazy or mean,

people of a different political persuasion...) Yes, even

these are worthy of human respect. Talk to your children

about giving respect - even to people they don’t like.

JOSEPH KIMUTIS FUNDS OLG MINISTRIES-- The OLG Ladies of Charity, and St. Vincent de Paul Soci-

ety were recently notified they are recipients of 2016

Grant Funds to assist in the programs and ministries con-

ducted by its members. This is the second year of funding

for the Ladies of Charity, a service “hands on” ministry

serving the sick and the poor. Last year’s grant assisted

the Ladies in providing 1,200 sandwiches to the Light of

Light Mission in Pittsburgh and outreach to parishioners

who are homebound and nursing homes at Christmas and

Easter. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society utilizes their grant

funds for restocking the Food Pantry for distribution to

local families within our Parish geographical area. The

Joseph Kimutis Memorial Fund is administered by the

Pittsburgh Foundation and our Parish is grateful for this

grant support.

Rev. Ralph Tajak, OSB, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on Monday, September 19th, at All Hallows College in Ireland. Fr. Tajak will be awarded a doctorate degree in Humanities this November for his work on the theme of abandonment in the formative spirituality of Fr. Adrian Van Kaam, CHSp. Fr. Ralph has resided at Our Lady of Grace for the past four years, helping with the celebration of Mass and confessions, while he served as the chaplain to the Epiphany Academy in nearby Beechview.

The Epiphany Association and Academy was founded by Fr. Van Kaam and Dr. Susan Muto to continue their work after decades of affiliation with Duquesne University, first, as the Institute of Man and, then, as the Institute of Formative Spirituality. Fr. Tajak, a monk of St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA , completed the two-year certification program at Epiphany while serving as pastor of St. Peter Parish in Pittsburgh’s North Side. A few years ago, Fr. Ralph began his work at All Hallows College in an effort to investigate and rehabilitate the original interdisciplinary work of Fr. Van Kaam, which blended elements of spirituality, theology, psychology and philosophy. Fr. Tajak’s academic credentials are formidable: a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, masters degrees in both theology and divinity from St. Vincent Seminary, and a Masters Degree in Systematic Theology from St. Michael’s College in Toronto, Canada. Now, Fr. Ralphs’ academic journey finds its fulfillment in the awarding of his doctorate degree in humanities. Fr. Ralph’s doctorate degree will be the last awarded by All Hallows College as this venerable Irish institution will be absorbed into Dublin City College later this year. As we welcome Fr. Ralph back to Our Lady of Grace Parish this weekend after his two-week hiatus overseas, we thank God for blessing the work of his hands in the completion of his doctoral studies. His education and pastoral experience will serve the Church for years to come in the spiritual formation and theological education of the next generation of ecclesial leaders: deacons, monks and priests, who will benefit from his faith, erudition and insight. We hope to have Fr. Ralph Tajak, OSB, with us for the next couple of months before he returns to Saint Vincent Archabbey and his Benediction monastic community. We’ll be certain to hold a Parish reception in celebration of his doctorate degree and his years of service here at Our Lady of Grace sometime in the coming months. Rev. Richard A. Infante Pastor

The priests, parishioners and staff would like to welcome everyone here

today celebrating Mass with us at Our Lady of Grace Parish.

CATHOLIC MEN’S FELLOWSHIP—Upcoming

events include this Monday, October 3 at St. Anne's

featuring Dave VanVickle, Bob Lesnefsky and Fr. Joe

Freedy, this Thursday, October 6 at St. Margaret Mary

Freedy and Thursday, October 13 at St.

Raphael featuring Dave VanVickle, Bob Lesnefsky and

Fr. Mike Ackerman. It's setup as an event you can bring

anyone to, especially those who don't normally go to

church. Bring a friend, a neighbor, or family member and

they will hear the love of God preached in a powerful way

followed by an opportunity to experience Jesus in

Adoration. All events are from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Families

are invited. There will be refreshments afterwards. We

hope you will join us. “IF YOUI BUILD IT, HE WILL COME”—This is a famous line from the movie Field of Dreams. Here is our Parish and across our diocese we have an opportunity to build a new, vibrant Church that is ALIVE. This week’s bulletin insert about On Mission for the Church Alive! explains more about how together we can build our future, and why everyone’s input is critical. It also list our upcoming parish consultation sessions. Get involved, and learn more at www.OnMissionChurchAlive.org. For your information - Diocese of Pittsburgh Victim Assistance
