    Cambridge ICT Starters

    What is Cambridge ICT

    Starters?

    Inormation and Communications

    Technology (ICT) is now part o the

    educational experience o children

    in most parts o the world. Taught

    as both a discrete subject and

    embedded within the curriculum,

    ICT is regarded as a new literacy,alongside reading, writing and

    numeracy.

    Cambridge ICT Starters is designed

    to introduce students, within Primary

    and Lower Secondary education,

    to the key ICT applications they

    need to acquire that literacy and to

    understand the impact o technology

    on our daily lives.

    Areas o study

    The syllabus provides a curriculum

    ramework in which ICT competence

    is developed. Modules are delivered

    according to the needs o each

    learning situation and age o the

    students across the curriculum or

    as a separate course o study.

    Students use ICT to communicate,handle inormation, model and

    control. Through Cambridge ICT

    Starters, they develop key ICT skills

    in a range o applications including:

    word processing, computer graphics,

    databases, spreadsheets, email,

    internet, presentations, control

    technology, video/animation and

    web authoring. They also learn to

    consider the wider issues o working

    with ICT such as adapting their workaccording to the particular audience

    and internet saety.

    Ateachlevel,aCambridgeICT

    starters Stage 1 or Full Certifcate is

    available. To gain a Full Certifcate,

    students must achieve all modules

    at both Stage 1 and Stage 2 o their

    chosen level.
