Parent Information Night – 7 pm MONDAY JULY 25th in the staffroom - A warm welcome to parents to this important information / sharing session regarding our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support arrangements (SWPBS).
Want to know more about our SWPBS behaviour matrix, the use of tokens, the embedding of school values into the daily curriculum and student welfare / well-being support at Mano? Then please join us and bring a friend or two!
The session will go for 1-1½ hours and provide opportunities for sharing information, discussion and interaction, together with future policy and direction setting.
School Photos - These were taken on Wednesday 20th July and the Leading Image photography staff were most impressed with our student’s behaviour and cooperation.
We look forward to receiving orders in the coming weeks of both individual and family orders. If you are wishing to purchase any photos, you can do so online until tomorrow or by contacting Leading Image directly and getting a ‘second chance’ order form. Unfortunately we cannot accept any late orders, any late orders will need to go straight to Leading Image. You can phone them on 1300 084 586 for any other enquiries.
‘Name the train’ competition - Part of the refurbished Prep playground a new train and carriage is being built.
We’d like to name this train and have invited students to share suggestions via the box at the General Office
Entries close 4 pm Friday July 22nd.
Winning entry announced at Assembly Monday July 25th.
Last year we ran a similar activity to name the new boat in the sandpit, with the winning entry then being the ‘Friend Ship’.
The school concert is fast approaching - This big event THURSDAY SPETEMBER 1st at The Arena is now only 6 weeks away. Students are busy in music classes preparing their class acts and we thank parents who have supported costume production.
Ms Clutterbuck and Mrs Ellis are the key staff in this year’s Concert production and are to be highly commended for their dedication to the complex and demanding eland up work required.
Tickets will go on sale soon and this will be clearly communicated to all Mano families at the time – stay tuned!
Annual parent community surveying - Each year all schools are asked to seek the views and opinions of a sample group of current parents. A randomly generated sample (15% of current families) will be contacted and a survey provided which covers many, many aspects of school operations.
If you are contacted re such a survey we really need you to complete this and return it in the sealed envelope provided.
Survey responses are collated by the Education Department and all responses are confidential.
Collated data is used to compare with previous years, compare to other schools and to direct school planning and related program / procedure adjusting.
Your opinions do matter and we need them! When DET has collated this data we will publish outcomes in future newsletters – which will be next term.
Barry Rowland

Library News
The Library program has commenced for Term 3 with a new selection of terrific books for borrowing. Students are encouraged to borrow each week and required to bring a named library bag to each session. This term the Library program will be focusing on the Book Week theme "Australia Story Country" and taking part in varied reading activities based on the CBCA shortlisted books.
The Library program is happy to welcome Ms Jo Eddey to the team as Mrs Hines is going on leave for the next two terms. We wish Mrs Hines all the best. Ms Eddey will commence her lessons next Monday 18th July.
Thank you, Mrs Bencic
Chaplain’s Corner
Term 2 was a great term here at Mano. It saw the establishment of friendship club on Mondays, which is running throughout Term 3 in the
OSHC room on Monday lunchtimes. Friendship club is a lunch-time activity which is 100% voluntary – it operates on a drop-in drop-out
basis. It is primarily for students who are struggling to find friends to play with out in the yard as well as helping students develop social and
friendship skills through play. Friendship club is available for all Middle and Senior students, and there is a wide-range of activities to be
involved in. Moreover, students are encouraged and supported to interact and play with each other, which helps them to build real world
skills. I have found that providing a safe place for the students has helped them in their engagement at school. Besides, it is always great fun
to have a game with them.
Thanks for your support throughout Term 2, and I look forward to working alongside you this Term 3 as we journey with and support the
students here at Mano.
All the best for Term 3,
Jesse Winter - Chaplain
