NEW BUSINESS

1 Emergency Automated Call Out telephone System Click for detail --> 0

Motion Approved

Whereas the City of Cornwall had a business/residential area without water for almost the entire day on Friday February 6 2015; and

Whereas some business/residents were not notified through the automated telephone notice system, that they would be without water for a good part of the day; and

Whereas when longtime businesses of the area contacted the city, they were told that they were not on the list that was contacted for this emergency.

Therefore be it resolved that administration prepare a report on what protocols are followed when this system is used and how this system is kept up to date, and how does a resident or business get added to the system.

2 Snow Removal of City Public Paid Parking Lots and Paid Meters Click for detail --> [J

Whereas the City of Cornwall has 9 paid parking lots and many paid meters in the City of Cornwall where snow removal is required; and

Whereas city business owners and other groups depend on these parking lots and meters on a daily basis to ensure customers are able to park in these paid city lots & meters, and access these local businesses; and

Whereas these public paid parking lots and meters have not been cleared of snow as a priority; and

Whereas it has been several days or weeks since these lots and meters were cleared,

Whereas this could result in a huge liability issue for the City of Cornwall; and

Whereas some residents have fallen and become injured in these lots & metered areas; and

Whereas many of our seniors depend on these parking lots in order to attend these businesses/clubs; and

Now therefore, be it resolved that administration prepare a report for the next regular council meeting regarding on how much revenue is generated from these lots and meters, through monthly passes and paid parking; and

That Council be provided with a copy of the tender for the contractor providing these services for the 9 public paid parking lots; and

That Administration also provide Council the protocol indicating why these lots are not on the priority list for snow removal; and

Now, therefore, be it further resolved that Administration also provide the protocol regarding snow removal from around the paid parking meters throughout the City of Cornwall.
