    EXECUTIVE SUMMARYCentral University College is currently the biggest private University in Ghana. The College has

    four campuses (Miotso, Dansoman, Mataheko and Graduate School campuses). `

    The college which was founded by International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra, Ghana

    in 1998 currently has a student population of twelve thousand nine hundred (12,900)

    undergraduates and graduate student.

    Among the stated aims of the University is to provide integrated and biblically based tertiary

    education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent. To shape vision and raise

    leaders for the future is the vision of the University.

    The Student Representative Council in realizing this vision as a major stake holder seeks to

    institute an award ceremony to celebrate potentials and students that imbibes the schools principlesof excellence, Integrity and honor.

    The second Edition is dubbed “CUC EXCELLENCE AWARDS’16” and would be held on the

    6th  of May 2016 at Miotso campus at 7pm.It will be highly official with the president of the

    University and other invited guests including the faculty members.

    OBJECTIVES

    The objectives for instituting this awards ceremony, among others, include:

    To inspire and motivate students to strive for excellence in all endeavors.

    To promote discipline, unity of purpose, hard work, integrity and honor in students.To promote healthy competition, good sportsmanship and friendship among students

    We also want to enhance cleanliness and decorum in various halls and hostels or residence

    AWARD CATEGORIES

    CUC STUDENT OF THE YEAR

    This category is to award students who do so well in Academics and also do well in the fields of

    activities. Some students do a lot for the school; sports, Instrument, Leading and embarking on

    Missions. Apart from all the activities, they still do well in academics and come top in class.Therefore, there is the need to award them. This is the ultimate award for the university

    MOST INFLUENTIAL STUDENT OF THE YEAR

    This award is for students that during the course of the academic year exhibited exemplary

    leadership in all spheres of academic life. This student should have influenced policy at least at the

    JCR level, been an activist for the cause of students, has been of good behaviour and shown a high

    level of moral integrity. This student should also be charismatic and command a high number of

    students.

    STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR

    A universities goal is to train its students to become entrepreneurial, to be employers and change

    leaders. This award will celebrate the student that imbibes this spirit and is leading the change even

    as a student. This individual or group of persons should have a visible enterprise that is original in

    thought and direction. The enterprise should as well be sustainable.

    MOST INFLUENTIAL ALUMNI OF THE YEAR

    We appreciate the influence of our Alumni on our students. In all spheres of public endeavor our

    Alumni are excelling. They are leading change and influencing national discourse. We want this

    exemplary leadership to reflect in our students hence the need to award an Alumnus that inspires

    hope and integrity, leadership and originality in thought.

    THE WRITER OF THE YEAR

    We write to document our history, our feelings and to demand accountability. It is a craft that

    ought to be delivered in the skill and style. This award will honor the student whose writing words

    whether literally or directive is delivered with the style, skill, precision and captivating. These

    works for the avoidance of doubt can be published or unpublished.

    OVERALL BEST STUDENT IN ACADEMICS

    We can certainly not leave out Academics in awarding excellence in Academic Institution. For this

    category, we award the best student biased on his or her CGPA. If for some reasons there are

    students in the same CGPA we will put them to vote and let their extra curricula activities

    influence their award.

    SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (MALE AND FEMALE)

    Sport is one of the pillars of human development. It recreates and rejuvenates, creates bonds

     beyond boarders and propels the name of institutions to their pinnacle. It is appropriate that in

    appreciating this scientific fact, we acknowledge the gallant men and women that drive the various

    sporting disciplines in our schools. F or this category, we intend to award the most enterprising and

    versatile athlete in all the disciplines in the year under review.

    ENTERTAINMENT PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR

    The Creative Art is an industry that cannot be ignored in any society. In our society for example

    there are several artistes that we cannot overlook when awarding excellence. These artistes include

    Dancers, Singers, Comedians, Painters, Rap and spoken word artiste, sound engineer, among many

    others that we would much appreciate to acknowledge for the excellence they exude in their bid to

    entertain and cognitively rejuvenate us. We would award the best entertainer among all of the

    aforementioned.

    MOST FASHIONABLE STUDENT (MALE AND FEMALE)Looks they say speak volumes of our individuals. It increases one’s level of confidence and creates

    a very impression about an individual. Here at Central University College, looks are very dear to

    our existence hence our need to award trend setters, decently dressed students and good looks. This

    award is to inspire our peers to all times dress impressively and decently to reflect the foundation

    of great University.

    THE MOST STUDENT FRIENDLY LECTURER AND HOD OF THE YEAR

    In every Academic discourse community, there is the need for a cordial co-existence to exist

     between senior common room and the junior common room. More often this is not the case

     between here at Central University we are fortunate to have some of the best lectures and HODS inthe country. We will like to use this medium to reinforce the cordial relationship that exists

     between lecturers, HODS and students by awarding the most student friendly lecturer and HOD on

    campus. This we believe might inspire other lecturers and HODS to establish cordial relations and

    live up to expectation.

    BEST ORGANISED EVENT

    Several events take place on campus almost every time. This event ranges from motivational

    seminars, fashion show to musical performances but which event actually benefits the overall

    developments of the graduate. This category seeks to award events tailored to the intellectual and

    moral developments of the students. The event should be well publicized and well attended and itshould also achieve its intended purpose.

    MOST POPULAR STUDENT OF THE YEAR (MALE AND FEMALE)

    This award will go to the most popular student of the year. This will be determined by popular

    nominations and by popular votes from the general students’ body.

    THE BEST HALL IN CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

    In Central University College, there are 8 different halls of residence evenly shared among bothsexes. This award will go to the hall that deemed to be active in terms of its participation in the

    school’s activities. The determinants will be the hall’s activeness in sports, debates, quizzes and

    cleanliness. In all, the hall whose students or occupants are deemed well behaved during the year

    under review will be considered for the awarded.

    BEST SCHOOL IN CENTRAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (e.g. SCHOOL OF PHARMACY)

    This award is to motivate students to do more in solving intellectual ideas of the country being it

    Scientific, human resource, financial, political and human behavior. In developing a country, we

    need intellectuals that could think deep and bring out different ideas to solve a whole lot of

     problems in health, finances and others. This award will go to the School that brings somethingnew to help solve Ghanaian problems. It will also be based on the thorough research they did in the

    whole of the Academic year

    THE DANIEL AWARD

    Since the University is a Christian University we always have an idea of grooming students to

    follow the ways of Jesus Christ and therefore there is the need to award those who are gifted and

    help in church activities on campus. It helps to motivate students to do more for the church and

    also help to raise spiritual leaders for the Nation.

    OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION 

    MARKET SIZE & POTENTIALITY

    It is interesting to know that there are over 10,000 of student population out of which over 70% are

    on the main campus at Miotso  –  Prampram. The rest of the 30% are spread across the three other

    campuses including about 25% at Mataheko Campus and the 5% of student population of both

    Dansoman and LT campuses.

    TURN UP PROJECTIONDuring the Maiden Edition, we projected over 1500 attendees out of which 1232 turned up. This

    event is primarily targeted to engage the student body. We are expecting students from across all

    campuses, faculties and levels that would be enticed by the gravitation of this initiative and

     publicity strategies, etc. to involve themselves in this event. Students would be transported from

    the other three campuses to the main campus.

    In view of the above, we are expecting over 1500 students from the main campus (Miotso) and

    over 500 students across all other three campuses making 2000+ prospects to participate in the 2nd Edition of the function. Hopes are high regarding this prospective turn up. 

    MARKET PERFORMANCE

    Market performance, put differently, the frequency or purchasing patterns of students are high in

    the sense that it is observed that the average student in a week spends over GH¢ 150.00. This is

     perhaps by virtue of the fact that about 85% of the student population are from homes of the

    middle income earners.

    This is an opportunity to tap your portion of these prospects. We would humbly recommend that

    you make very good use of platforms that will be given so as to entice the market into making

     purchasing decision.

    Again we would embark on series of irresistible publicity activities to help create awareness as

    well as communicating tantalizing atmosphere for this event. Publicity strategies are expatiated in

    the next subject.

    Adding to that, it is a fact that students at CUC are very sensitive in embracing such an activity on

    campus. 

    PUBLICITY STRATEGIES

    These are activities or set of activities that would be carried out to ensure that the student body is

    aware; students are compelled to make turn up decisions and will turn up at the event. The

    following are list of publicity strategies.

    Chapel Service Announcement:  Chapel services are held every Wednesdays and

    Sundays. We would therefore draft information about this event to be read at chapel service

     periods. Most students go for chapel service, though. X

    Bulk SMS/E-mail:  We would draft short messages and distribute them across these

     platforms.

    Class Announcements: We would appoint students to enter class by class prior and post

    lecture periods to make announcements.

    Publicity Materials:  Tickets, T- shirts, Banners, fliers, and other printable bills will be

    fixed and pasted to display attractive and attention-grabbing information. Art works

    (colors, graphic designs, etc.) will be of different colors and designs.

    Media: We would also engage in some media hype at GH-One TV, iSocial and Zone 36.

    These are platforms to perhaps attract potential non-students attendees as well extend hype

    to build confidence in the student body.

    Social Media:  Platforms such as Instagram (IG), Facebook (FB), Twitter, Whatsapp,

    Google+, Snap Chat, etc. will be used to enhance on publicity.

    Promotions: We would also run promotional activities to students and the general public.

    For instance we would use social media platform like IG or FB and indicate a free ticketwinning for say the first and/or the last to like/comment on a post. Again, giving free

    tickets to any one that answers our questions correctly, etc.

      Clubs/Association Heads & Hall Executives:  We would use our authority to appoint

    executives of the various clubs, departmental associations and halls to promote the

    movement.

    Website:  We would also publicize the event with written and design information to

    enhance publicity.

    Lecturers/Authorities:  We would plead with lectures and authorities to help hype the

    event by just talking about it anytime they are in contacts with students.

    Corporate/Media Hype: Prospective corporate sponsors and media would display all art

    works on their social media platforms to help promote the hype. The media would also

    announce or publicize the event on air.

    Performers’ Hype:  Artists on the bill will also do their part of the publicity across all

     platforms.
