DockDogs® the World’s Premier Canine Aquatics Competition is set to return to the Clark County Fair! If you’ve never seen a “Big Air” competition this is your chance to see one of the most popular pooch/human sports in the world today. Best of all, anyone can enter! To register, go to www.DockDogs.com. This SW Washington-sanctioned event is part of the National Sportsmen’s Series. DockDogs was established in 2000 to promote a nationally recognized competitive aquatic-based sport with the rules of track-and-field long jump… but for dogs. The Clark County Fair has been chosen to host a qualifier for DockDogs again this year and dozens are expected to enter.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: You must register your dog through www.DockDogs.com, and pay the entrance fee. There are three events you can enter: Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve. Each registered dog is assigned a time slot on a specific day, and you must enter through the BLUE GATE only at the Clark County Fair. At competition time, the dog must run down a 40-foot long dock and leap (long jump) into the pool or compete in the Vertical or Retrieve events. The judges measure the distance or height and the top finishers receive prizes, a national ranking and even a possible invitation to the DockDogs National Championship Series! DockDogs is sponsored by KGW.

People’s Community Federal Credit Union wants you to feel free to drop your shopping treasure or carnival winnings by their package-handling booth located inside the Marketplace Lobby. These masters of the sand, will be building during the run of the Fair, so be sure to come back over and over to see their progress! This exhibit is sponsored by Les Schwab!

Welcome to the Clark County Fair and the Celebration of Our 150th Anniversary

For years, Fairs have been the gathering place for generations of families and friends to meet and put their best skills on display or show the animals and crops they have spent the past year caring for and raising. Fairs became the annual celebration of accomplishment.Across the country, Fairs are facing an increasing challenge to stay relevant to their mission in the face of fewer family farms every year. The expectations of youth and families in 2018 are considerably different than what they were in 1868. Striking a balance that recognizes both the mission and the need to stay current is one that the Clark County Fair has done very well. Our recognition as one of the top Fairs in the Country, twice in the past few years, is testimony to that. This year is no exception. The Fair Board, staff and volunteers have planned a great event for this anniversary celebration with agriculture and you in mind. Please enjoy your visit and take advantage of all the educational, recreational, shopping and dining opportunities the Fair has right at your fingertips.Again, welcome and thank you for attending the Fair and helping us recognize 150 years of our agricultural heritage.

Thank you,John Morrison
