• Initial paper based records management focus (2000-2003)

• Objective keeps track of around 6.5 million Corporate files (2011)

• Containing paper based physical records in Corporate files ~ 40 linear km’s

• Gradual move to electronic formats - Capture at point of creation ~ 62 million objects (2011)

• New records are “born digital”, with new formats emerging

Corporate Rollout of Objective

• Installed user base of ~ 30,000 users• Add 30,000 users to Objective over the next

3 years – at a rate of 10,000 per annum• Introduce e-Learning courses to replace

face to face training for “typical users”• Deploy Objective outside of Australia• Upgrade to Objective 8.x during 2012-2013

• Gap analysis - fill in partial implementations across Groups and Services

• Cookie cutter approach for implementations• Simplify – Analyse shared drives - apply

standard structures – regimented procedures• Rationalise - cleanse, de-duplicate, tidy• Migrate – lock shared drives – read-only

• Six monthly tranches• Priorities endorsed by Defence Corporate

• 3 year project duration• Completion by December 2013
