Director’s LetterChristmas is the most wonderful time of the year. The look in the faces of children lets us all remember how wonderful and simple life can be. As we grow older we tend to forget the real reason for Christmas as we get lost in the search to get all the presents and check off each one on our list. This show has many meanings for me. Due to unusual cir-cumstances, the Crighton was going to be dark during the Christmas season of 2008. A group of folks couldn’t stand that thought, and asked if they could do a show. They called themselves Stage Right. Christmas Belles was the beginning of Stage Right at the Historic Crighton Theatre. As the Executive Director of The Crighton Theatre Foundation for over 25 years, the arrival of Stage Right has proven to be an example of the essence of the “Crighton Theatre experience”. A star in one show, while pushing sets on another typifies the Stage Right experience: a collection of people whose singular purpose is to entertain the audience. This is what the “Crighton” is all about. Not just a building, yet a state of mind that says you are welcome here at the Crighton. Not surprisingly, the real story of Christmas Belles is second chances for the people of the mythical town of Fayro, Texas. This is fitting as Christmas is the story of second chances for us all through the birth of Jesus. As the curtain draws down on my career as an actor and director, I could not have been more blessed to have such a collection of talent as you will see on stage tonight. I would like thank each one of the cast and crew in making this show such a wonderful experience for the “old man”. Jim BinghamDirector

From the Producers: Christmas Belles means a lot to us at STAGE RIGHT. It was the first show we ever pro-duced here at the Crighton. The year 2008, when we first formed our company, was a tumultuous one- the economy was tanking and Hurricane Ike came to town. It seems the world is shaking again. The news is hard to watch. We all wonder what the future holds. We are glad, like at our very first opening night, we can take you away from the cares of the world. We can make you laugh and most importantly with this show remind you that despite the troubles in the world, we have reason to celebrate. We hope it is a reminder that there is good in the world and because of the birth of the Christ child we all have been given a second chance. We wish you Peace. Thank you for joining us in our eighth season at the historic Crighton Theatre. Enjoy the show!Steve & Carolyn Wong

CHrISTmAS BeLLeS – BIoSCastCAroLYN CorSANo WoNG (Geneva Musgrave/Sound Design/Producer) Caro-lyn is pleased to reprise the role of Geneva for this third trip to Fayro. She serves as Artistic Director for STAGE RIGHT and she and husband Steve are Executive Pro-ducers. Of all the hats she wears Carolyn most enjoys making people laugh; favor-ite roles include the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz, Louise in Always Patsy Cline and Dotty in Noises Off. Winner of 2 Mon-tie Awards last season for sound design (Singin’ in the Rain) and as Leading Ac-tress in a Play for her portrayal of Dinah in The Dixie Swim Club, Carolyn’s proudest achievement is being the mother of her son Michael. Love to Steve, Michael and Har-ley. Merry Christmas y’all!

AmY SoWerS (Honey Raye Futrelle) Amy is excited to reprise the role of Honey Raye in this wonderful production. Some of Amy’s favorite roles include Diana in Lend Me a Tenor, Auntie Em in The Wiz-ard of Oz, Sheree in The Dixie Swim Club, Mother in Cheaper by the Dozen, Marmee in Little Women and Gaynelle in The Red Velvet Cake War. Last spring, she per-formed in the chorus of The Events at the New York Theater Workshop. Amy is the director of Bravo Company, the educa-tional wing of STAGE RIGHT and serves on the Board of STAGE RIGHT, the Crigh-ton Theatre Foundation and the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance. Her absolute favor-ite role is as wife to George and mother to Trey and Adam!

TArA SUmNer (Gina Jo Dubberly) Tara Sumner has been in several plays here at the Crighton Theatre and in school. Tara’s favorite show was Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde where she ran lights. Theatre has helped her

become the woman she is today. Christmas has been a wake-up call on why she started acting: to portray a different person and get away from reality for a little bit. Some people enjoy video games she has Theatre! A lot of people ask her ‘why do you do it if you don’t get paid?’ For Tara, it’s because she has a pas-sion for it. Thank you. God is always on my side.

ALLeN DorrIS Jr. (John Curtis Buntner) Allen has performed at various theatres in Houston and Conroe. He would like to thank Jim Bingham and Steve and Carolyn Wong and the cast and crew and the Acad-emy and Marlon Brando!! Ok, maybe not Marlon.

JeNNIFer mArSHALL (Twink Futrelle) Jennifer is extremely excited to continue her relationship with Stage Right and The Crighton Theater. She enjoys being the comic relief in any production. Jennifer has been involved in the theater since her first production in the fifth grade. She has always loved being on the stage, but is now enjoy-ing participating behind the scenes, as well. There is always something new to learn in the theater and Jennifer wants to know it all! As always, she would like to thank her fam-ily for their support. Especially her husband Glen, who doesn’t understand her fascina-tion for doing something you don’t get paid for, but lets her pursue her passion anyway and is there for every production cheering her on.

KATT GILCreASe (Dub Dubberly) Katt returns to the Crighton stage after a two year break with the show that got him here in the beginning. Katt wishes all Happy Holidays and best wishes. Katt wishes to thank his never ending support, Susan, for all she does

Page 8: Director’s Letter - Stage Rightresources.stage-right.org/playbills/ChristmasBelles2015... · 2015. 12. 13. · Director’s Letter Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year

to keep him sane in this crazy entertainment world. Enjoy the show.

mArIA o. SIrGo (Frankie Futrelle Dub-berly) is delighted to reprise her role as Frankie as part of this exceptional and ex-tremely talented ensemble cast. Maria has appeared at various Houston Theatres for the past 14 years and last appeared on the Crighton stage as Veta Louise Simmons in Harvey. Some other favorite shows in-clude, Entertaining Mr. Sloane (Kat); Agnes of God (Mother Miriam); Seascape (Nancy); Susanna & Will (Susanna); One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (Nurse Ratched); Regrets Only (Myra); Same Time Next Year (Do-ris); Waiting In The Wings (Maude); Out-ward Bound (Mrs. Clivedon-Banks); Sylvia (Kate). Thank you Steve, Carolyn, Jim and the STAGE RIGHT team for this great op-portunity! It has been a thrill to be part of such a great production once again, sharing the stage with so many beloved friends. To Miguel, M&P, P-Bird, VA Clan, Sibi Sanch, Mis Hermanos; My Girls~Os quiero mucho! Enjoy the show and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

meLoDY moNTeZ (Rhonda Lynn Lamp-ley) Melody is a theatre veteran of 25 years. She attended Sam Houston State as a theatre major and has performed in and directed many shows at the Crighton Theatre for the past 20 years. She was also Savannah in the World Premiere of Jones, Hope, and Woo-ten’s Mama Won’t Fly. Most recently, she directed The Red Velvet Cake War, 2013’s A Christmas Story, and played Lexi in The Dixie Swim Club and Jessie Mae in The Trip to Bountiful. Melody teaches the teen acting class for Bravo Company, STAGE RIGHT’S Children’s Educational Wing and currently works in at McCullough Junior High. Mel-

ody is excited to reprise the role of Rhonda Lynn for the 3rd time! Merry Christmas!

JoSH SANDroS (Justin Waverly) Josh Sandros is welcomed back to the Historic Crighton once again after staring in Hair-spray last year and Singin’ in the Rain earlier this year in this hoot of a Christmas comedy that is Christmas Belles! With a break from his usual routine of musical theatre, Josh is happy to step into this comedy to continue do what he loves most; to make others laugh and smile! Some of these roles include: Teddy in Arsenic and Old Lace, Lieutenant Kendrick in A Few Good Men, and Butch in Leading Ladies. Steve is employed at Piney Shores Resort in Conroe, TX. As al-ways, he wants to thank Marilyn for her love and support.

WeNDY ALBrIGHT (Patsy Price) This is Wendy’s second performance at the Crigh-ton Theatre. Last year she was in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in which she won a Montie Award for her performance. DeNNIS o’CoNNor (Santa’s Elf/Mas-ter Carpenter) I build the sets for STAGE RIGHT. I’ve been on stage as an actor for 53 years. I love sharing the stage with my son Adam. Thomp-son, Robin Williams and a host of anyone that refuses to take the birth and death cycle seriously. I implore you to support The His-toric Crighton Theatre and STAGE RIGHT. Ya get a good meal...ya tip generously right? Jonah, Denny, and Emmy...I miss you.
