October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Show your appreciation to Pastor Hamlin for the love he has poured into Macedonia and to you personally by sending him a card, text, email or any creative way you wish to show your love. ************ For the remainder of the year, the Adult and Youth Sunday school schedule will be as follows:

Adult Sunday School will meet during the months of October, November and December every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday at 8:15am

using the MBC Daily Devotional.

Youth Sunday School will meet during the months of October, November and December every 2nd and 3rd Sunday at 8:30am

discussing “Discipleship.” ************ The Initial Sermon Licensure Service of Minister-in-Training Desiree Alston and Minister-in-Training Noreen Murphy will be on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm. All are invited to attend and support the ministry at MBC. ************ WORD FOR YOU TODAY (September-October-November), our daily devotional is available for pickup this Sunday following Worship Service at the Information Center. When you get one for yourself, remember a family member or friend that will benefit from the daily devotional. ************ Place your October SHARE order on or before Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Information Center, online at www.mbcva.ws or by calling the office 703-521-7663. SHARE distribution day is Saturday, October 21st. The October flyer is attached. Be sure to include $1 per order to cover transportation costs. Extra hands to assemble the SHARE packages are always welcome. ************

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Additional information is available at the Information Center.

Everyone is invited to Corporate Prayer which will be on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00pm. ************ Greater Gospel Church and Pastor will have its 7th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, October 15 at 10:30am and at 3:00pm. Rev. Augustus Henderson will bring the preached word at 10:30am at the Comfort Inn, Springfield, VA and Pastor Leonard Hamlin will bring the preached word at the 3:00pm service at Macedonia. ************ October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Chosen Women’s Ministry will host a panel discussion on

domestic violence or intimate partner abuse as it is now referred to. Please join us on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, to hear from a reformed abuser (video recorded), a woman’s perspective on women as abusers, and advocates and representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department. ************ Generation Now will be hosting its 2nd Annual October Fest/Youth Corporate Prayer. This year we will be adding the Trunk or Treat. This event will be on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. The Youth Corporate Prayer will be from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Come looking to receive a blessing as our youth send their petitions through prayer to the Lord. The Trunk or Treat will follow from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. The Trunk or Treat is our alternative to the youth trick or treating on Halloween in a nice safe environ-ment. Please come out and support this youth service and event.

MBC Achievers tutoring program will resume on Wednesday, October 11th at 6:30pm. MBC Achievers meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm—8:30pm. In addition to tutoring for all students (Pre-K thru 12th grade) with a specific focus on reading comprehension and math, on Wednesday (Oct. 11th) there will be student assessments. Parents/grandparents/guardians, please take advantage of what is being offered to help your students advance in their studies and be prepared for the standardized tests. Deborah McClary. ************ MBC’s Generation Now 2018 HBCU College Tour is scheduled for Sunday, March 25, – Thursday, March 29, 2018. This is an excellent opportunity for 9th – 12th grade students to get an overview of college life and find out first-hand what is required to be accepted into college. The tour will include a visit to 9 colleges/universities and other activities. See the attached flyer for full details, contact and payment information. For 6 years, MBC has journeyed to the Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, PA to see the different lives of our heroes of faith in the Bible unfold; the story of Jonah, Noah, Moses, Samson, and the Miracle of Christmas. On Sat., April 14, 2018 the week after our Resurrection celebration as a church, we’re going to see an artistic illustration of the Life of “Jesus”, come alive. We’re encouraging all to join us in this awesome fun filled fellowship opportunity. All details including payment installments are available at the Information Center on Sunday in the Narthex and on the attached flyer. Our prayer is that this fellowship opportunity and Play will be a ministry opportuni-ty for us to continue to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us all! See the attached flyer for additional details. ************ Budget Roundtables We’re looking for feedback earlier this year than ever before as we plan for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 budget. Join your neighbors for community roundtable discussions about budget priorities and challenges. Your suggestions and comments will help the County Manager shape his FY19 budget proposal, which will go to the Board in February 2018. During the seven roundtables, up to 25 participants will be joined by members of the County’s executive leadership team to learn about the FY 2019 budget process and budget challenges facing Arlington County. Par-ticipants also will share their perspectives about budget priorities through a series of discussion questions. Due to limited space, we ask that participants register for only one roundtable, to allow everyone interested the opportunity to participate.
