    president of the usa and what a president does. This lesson uses the two books at

    the end of this lesson.

    Barack Obama by Catherine Nichols

    The President by Suzanne LeVert

    C14.4.2- Name the current President of the Unites States

    o Student-Friendly Standards

    C14.4.2- I can say who the President of the United States is.

    E. Procedure: (numbered steps)1. Teacher will go over the elements of the codes of conduct from yesterday with

    the help of the students.

    2. Teacher will ask who the president of the USA is.

    3. Teacher will read pgs 38 &39 out of Barack Obama by Catherine Nichols.

    4. Teacher will read pgs 4-11, 31-40 out of The President by Suzanne LeVert.Stopping and asking questions along the way that goes with the quiz at theend.

    5. CLOSURE: Take a minute to answer questions they have on presidents andmake sure they know the facts about presidents and our current president.

    What will you use to measure student understanding?

    A quiz to measure what they have learned about the president and his duties.

    Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from thelesson.

    By getting a good grade on the quiz and if not helping those students out bygoing over the material

    1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you toteach?

    The easiest to teach will be the codes of conduct from the previous lesson

    2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach?

    The most challenging would be making sure they understand the facts that I

    read to them for their quiz

    3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson?

    To follow up I would go into other presidents and see what they know

    4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts?

    Take them aside and show them the passages in the books

    5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change?
