This sample lesson is a second slide done step by step with the purpose of showing how L2 can be taught through the use of PPT projects as part of task-based instruction and project-based learning.

The topic for this lesson was “La Comida” (food). The three themes in which the food will be taught are:

Project 2: La cara de comida (food face- Foods served on a plate)

Objective: The students will use PPT, Google images or clipart (photomode), and custom animation to create an animated slide where the food vocabulary pictures will be placed strategically on a plate in order to make a food face. In the same time, the students will be introduced and involved in new food vocabulary

Grade levels: 2-8 *any language/computer level*

Procedure:Step 1: Open up PPT , and select a blank slide. Title it.Step 2: Click “Insert” , then “picture”, then “clipart” and select the “photograph” box OR- do a GOOGLE search of the image “plate”- Select the most realistic one.

Step 3. After you select a plate, select WORD ART to write down each vocabulary word pertaining the chapter and adding each to the slide. That is how the vocabulary gets integrated. Select the first option for simplicity

Step 4: Type each of your vocabulary words using the simpler option for Word Art. You may want to color each word separate for differentiation and for making closer connections (spicy food, dairy, meats, vegetables, etc)

**Remember that this is a step by step project and YOU are modeling the process ALONG with the students. You will continuously repeat vocabulary and now you have a chance to integrate LingTECHLingo** and the colors in L2 as well!

(Don’t forget to title the slide). Type the phrases that you see to the left so that the students can practice the body parts of as well “Eyes made of…” “Nose made of …”

Step 5: Conduct a Clipart (photograph) or Google Image search of each of the food. Use the LingTECHlingo* commands “busca” or “search for” “corta/cut”, “pega/paste”, to combine vocabulary and verbs in the L2. Paste each food twice, once on above the name, the other one on the side

Step 6: THE FACE: Using the LingTECHlingo* “Click, drag, cut, and paste” have the kids make a face with food on the plate.Make sure you model first and integrate the body parts, food, and LingTECHlingo* together.

Step 7: After you decorate the face, re-write the WORD ART using the food that the body part represents as you see above. The COPY/PASTE commands are of essence since that way the kids can repeat foods to make extras if needed.

***The final product will be saving the face on slideshow mode**

Step 9: All you need to do for them to “disappear” inside the lunchbox is to click on the lunchbox, and select “ORDER”, and then “BRING TO FRONT”- This makes all the object hide in the back

STEP 10: Do the same process with every food in on the slide. Use the words “Adentro” (inside) and “Afuera (outside) so that a pattern of sentences can be made: La leche esta adentro de la

lonchera. Las frutas estan dentro de la lonchera. Etc.
