Women’s Golf Week is a grass roots player development program spearheaded by GOLF 20/20, in association with the LPGA, PGA TOUR, PGA of America, United States Golf Association (USGA), The First Tee, the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and the World Golf Hall of Fame. Golf For Women magazine is the presenting sponsor. Women’s Golf Week was developed in response to the input of golf industry leaders at last November’s GOLF 20/20 conference. The program is designed to make learning and playing golf fun in a women-friendly environment. Women 14 years of age and older who are new to golf, as well as continuing golfers interested in honing their skills, can participate in complimentary clinics, while adult women also can take advantage of networking sessions with others who share their passion for the game. PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (May 3, 2005) – Thousands of women nationwide will be treated to free golf

lessons and golf-related social activities at several hundred public, resort and private golf courses from

Saturday, June 4 through June 11, 2005 as part of Women’s Golf Week, a precedent-setting collaboration

of the top U.S. golf organizations aimed at increasing the participation of women in golf.

locate a participating host facility in their area and to learn more about the specific events offered.

Participants may register online at the Women’s Golf Week website and at participating host courses in

advance of and on the day of each event.

“We believe that engaging more women in golf, and by extension more families, should be an important

component in our effort to secure the future of the game,” said Ruffin Beckwith, Executive Director of GOLF

20/20. “We hope that with the ongoing support of the allied associations, Women’s Golf Week will become a

staple of the annual golf calendar and ultimately have a significant impact on overall participation levels.”

Women’s Golf Week is part of Play Golf America, the golf industry’s premier search engine for accessing

information on player development programs for adults, women and families nationwide. Those who are

new to golf, beginners and more advanced players alike can log onto www.playgolfamerica.com

throughout the year to discover new and easy ways to get more golf into their lives.

In addition to complimentary golf instruction on Saturday, June 4, participating courses will offer activities

such as networking receptions, golf rules and etiquette seminars, club fitting and equipment

demonstrations, golf apparel fashion shows, luncheons and contests, all customized by each host facility.

Women’s Golf Week will benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a non-profit organization that is

dedicated to saving lives by helping to find cures for cancer. While the activities will be offered free of

charge, participants will have the option of making a tax-deductible donation that will help fund research for

women’s cancer initiatives through The V Foundation.

World Golf Hall of Famer Kathy Whitworth, LPGA and PGA of America professional Suzy Whaley and

nationally recognized instructor and author Cindy Reid serve as National Spokespersons of Women’s Golf Week. A kick-off event will be held on Friday, June 3 at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine,

Florida, where activities will include a clinic, a Million-Dollar Shot for charity and a nine-hole golf outing.
