YEARS 1 / 2
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Asalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuhu.
As-salamu alaykum (سالم كم ال ي ل (ع
My name is Sina Rogers. I am the new classroom teacher for Year 1 and 2 in the college. I recently moved here from New Zealand and currently residing here in the Gold Coast. In the past six years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach children overseas from all different cultures and backgrounds. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to teach both Junior and Middle Primary school age groups and especially being able to be part of a very diverse community.
Teaching has been a long time passion for me and I am very grateful for such blessing to be part of the academic success of every child here in the Australian International Islamic College. As a trained teacher, I believe in teaching and supporting the children in our society to become long life learners and achieve their full potential. It is my belief that the education of children is a continuing life long process.
As an educator in the College, I endeavour to teach from the basis of who I am, where I come from and where I would like to be. I envision this opportunity to teach Year 1 and Year 2 as a bilingual and multilingual environment. A classroom environment that is colourful and vibrant that encourages and promotes learning through pride. I aim to offer a secure and full of learning potential environment to all children belonging in this college.
It is my privilege to be part of your child’s learning and I am looking forward to work alongside with you parents and my colleagues to achieve the academic success of the children in the Australian International Islamic College.

YEARS 4~6
Assalamua alaikum Wr Wb.
It is with proud that, Alhamdulillah, I can report that so
far we have begun Term 2 with a great enthusiasm. The
quality of delivery of learning has met my expectations
for the students. Evidence is obvious to all that the
students are well disciplined with a focus on achieving
higher outcomes.
Since the beginning of Term 2 2014, we aimed to achieve
a quality learning for our children. Students indeed have
made enormous effort towards increased quality
learning and effective communication with each other
until now, beginning Term 2! Their commitment will
undoubtedly further enhance their learning. So, I’d like
to thank both the students and parents for their
response to a determined focus on discipline and
academic achievement so far. Here is just a reminder
about the Daily and weekly quizzes. These assessments
are valid indications of students’ progress and
understanding of academic concepts. So, it would be
great if those quizzes as well as the home works can be
signed off by parents. This will definitely assist us to be
aware of the children’s strengths or those areas which
need to be improved.
Naplan testing will be on next week! The consistent
message to children, families and staff needs to be that
it is really important to keep perspective - that the
NAPLAN is just a ‘snapshot‘ of a child‘s overall
achievement. The results are certainly interesting at a
whole school level, however at an individual level they
need to be viewed in relation to all the other
assessments, work samples and opportunities children
have to demonstrate their learning throughout the year.
Many thanks to all those wonderful parents who
encouraged their children to do their best and attend to
the classes after school, but avoided placing high stress
on young shoulders!
As a class we believe that we are all capable of
achieving our very best and that as a class we
need to work as a team to achieve our dream!!!
Congratulations to all the students who are
working very hard and to all award recipients.
Keep up the good and inspiring work in class and
at home. Again, I would like to thank all parents
for their help and support.

Assalamualaikum Wr Wb
Dear parents and families.
It is an honour to bring you our newsletter again
this week, and what a week it has been.
We have the term up and running very well. The tuck shop is producing some tasty food and at amazing prices.
We have two new teachers, and Year 1 teacher with lots of experience, and an experience ESL teacher for the primary school. Welcome Sina and Robyn.
There are a number of changes in the secondary school as well. All of our high school students have been put together to improve their learning outcomes.
We have also introduced a new ground breaking curriculum (the first in Australian secondary schools). This curriculum is called project based curriculum. The most redeeming feature of this new curriculum is that students get to work on real life projects, building a variety of cross curricula skills, problem solving techniques and most importantly improved literacy and numeracy outcomes.
If you have any questions with regard to the new curriculum please feel free to make an appointment to see me, as I am more than happy to discuss this you.
I wish you all a good week and may Allah be with
you.

Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2014 Parents and Community newsletter page.
On this page we will be keeping you up to date with our up and coming events, progress reports on the funding of school events such as the senior school camp, the purchase of more technology in the primary school, the purchase of books and toys and sports equipment for all of our students.
The role of the Parents and Community committee is hugely valuable within the school because it helps with the communication between parents, the community and the management of the school. It is made up of volunteers which help around the school, and in the community, they provide services to our students and to the teaching staff, with activities such as preparing the halal school lunches, making decisions on school funding events, they organise and make decisions about what funding is spent on and social events for parents to enjoy and socialise together.
As the committee is a volunteer organisation we are would very much appreciate the involvement of our parents and community. There are a number of roles and responsibilities which need managing, as well as in school activities parent and community help and support are required for. If you would like to help either in an official role or as a volunteer for events please ring Fatima at the school office or Diana and leave your name and phone number and one of the committee
members will be in touch with you.
Thank You for your support The Parents and Community Committee.
ESL & LEARNING SUPPORT
Assalamu alaikum , my name is Robyn Graham and I am teaching in the ESL / Learning Support Room. I have over 10 years experience teaching at all levels of primary school in New Zealand. I have spent many years teaching the skills of oral language, reading, writing and numeracy to children of all ages. In the past few years I have also been working with children with special needs. This has included providing them with specialised help and work they can do in the classroom.
I am enjoying helping the children at AIIC develop their language skills and it is great to see them so excited and enthusiastic about their learning. It is great to be greeted with their smiling faces each morning. I believe learning continues throughout your life and it is important that children see the adults around them continue to learn. Once they have the skills of reading and writing, they can continue to learn and strive to do their best. We are all teachers and learners in the ESL / Learning Support Room. The children are teaching me about their cultures and we are all learning more about Australia!
Kind Regards
