    ROCKIANDG is a section of MITCHELL'SPLAIN close to the False Bay coast. I found myself there

    last month, bringing a mesSa-ie on the SERMON ON THE IDUNT toa church group meeting in a school classroom. It was also myprivilege to take one of the evangelists and his family liometo BEL HAR afterwards, anc^we had a good time of fellowshipand discussion together.

    WE GREET YOU in the blessed name of our Lord JesusChrist. We are blessed a lot to have so many friends. V7ethank each one of you for your prayers for our labors for theLord here in Cape Town, South Africa. Thanks also to thosewho so regularly and faithfully send support for this work.In doing so you have become our partners in Christ, and weassure you by the authority of God's word that he will supplyall your needs by his riches in glory through Christ!

    MY LIVING BIBLE SUMMARY STRAIGHT TALK FROM GOD is still in the process of being keyed in to the computer:the Old Testament up to Daniel, and the New Testament up toFirst Peter. Rough drafts of these are now-being printed andedited. It's exciting work I can tell you that!

    CONTACT HAS BEEN MPDE with an ASSEMBLY OF GOD inLentegeur. i^ast week I brought them a comparative studybetween the Tabernacle, the Gospel of John, and our personallives. It was well received,

    AT ALOE ROAD I recently brought messages fromECCLESIASTES and ZECHARIAH. Here we see Solomon's experimenton life, where he concludes: "Honor God, and do what he says;

    because that's what life is all about. You see thetiiiie's coming when God's going to judge each person bythe way he's lived, and the things he's done even thethings he thought nobody knew about1 God himself is goingto decide which was good, and which was bad and we'llall have to face the consequences!"

    IN PORTLAND our Bible Study Group held its annualparty, where I brought a message on "THE GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS'.*We noted that God gives to us the gifts of LIGHT, of LIFE,and of LOVE. The group was very appreciative, and gavegifts to both Martha and myself for our work with themthrough the year. ^

    I read and edit my Bible Summary even while I'mwaiting for my lift to work. One day I was working my waythrough DANIEL, and read the account of Daniel in the lion'sden to those in the car. It was well received. At work Iexplained to a Muslim friend that God became man in orderto pay the price of our sin which is death.

    I have renewed contact with Brother Maellie ofRAVENSMEAD, who wants me to bring another series of lessonsthere.

    In EASTRIDGE Brother February has made contact withseveral families who are interested in studying God's Word.He has called on me to bring lessons in their homes. Onmy first visit I drove to his home, and we walked togetherthrough the neighborhood. A group came together in one ofthe homes, and we held a meeting with them. I brought thema message on God's plan of salvation. They are eager tohave regular studies in the area, and Brother February isgoing to let me know when they're ready.

    At the Farmer's Co-op, where I work during the day,they have recently centralized all the accounts at theHead Office in Port Elizabeth. I was nearly pensioned offearly (I'm only 59 you know), but then they decided theyneeded me after all, so I now handle the cheque books, thepetty cash, the wages, travel expenses, monthly reports.

    cartage payments, printing & stationery, as well as creditorsqueries, and sorting invoices and statements for transfer toHead Office. I also process journals and debit and creditnotes. I used to be in an office that had a good view ofTable Mountain, but I'm now in the General Office. Ah well.

    TRIP TO U.S.A.++++++++++++++

    South African Airways Jumbo Jet soared into the night skiesover Cape Town on April 15, bound for Miami. The nextmorning our rented Mirage pulled into Howard Johnson's at

    -iCey Largo ^Eor-^yreakifastro By -late afternoon we were cruising-through the Everglades, heading for Naples and Fort Myers onthe west coast. After a fantastic stay with Robbie & LaurieUnderberg, we flew to California. There it was my privilegeto perform the wedding ceremony of my daughter, Deirrin toClive. My son, Tim, sang at the wedding, and Jim and SandiWoest very kindly opened their home to Meurtha and me.

    At Las Vegas we were warmly welcomed by my sister. Alma.She showed us all the sights, while Dick ^d Carole Shineof the church's Missionary Committee kindly treated us to anevening meal before Bible Study. In Dallas the Browns gaveus a further taste of southern hospitality, and Roger Jonestook me to a men's bresikfast at Arlington Christian.

    We were up in the skies again to Minnesota where it was myprivilege to join with other speakers at a Missions Eveningat New Brighton Christian. Lee and Margaret Tate kindlyopened their home to us. Then Tim drove us to Wisconsin forour stay at Ladysmith. I spoke at the church. We werewelcomed at the home of Roland & Wilma Coggins, and invitedto a meal with Nancy Hoesly.

    In Eau Claire we visited with the Peters family. Timtreated us to supper, and we stayed in the home of LoriHaugen. Then we crossed ^e Mississippi, and spent sometime in Rochester with my old (v;ell, not really old)Bible College room-mate, Ronnie Wernimont, and his lovelywife, Rosalie. Soon we were heading south to Iowa for awonderful time with the Clarence Ouversons, and then onto Liscomb, where Stan and Becky Sneed opened wide theirdoors and their hearts to us, while Marvin and NancyDoran kindly put up with Tim (or is it put him up?) Ipreached in the morning on "PLANTING AND REAPINGV Martiiaand I visited Alice Lorenson, and then Stan and I tookCommunion to her 80 years old, and suffering from skincancer; but still driving her car, and still supportingmissions. My evening message was on "REVELATIONi"

    Chesterton, INDIANA saw us on Monday evening. May 8,justin time for spaghetti at "Handsome Howard's" (That'sFoster, not Johnson's). We also enjoyed fellowship withRex & Eileen Mitchell, Bryce Morgan, and Beverly Kolasa,who attended our missions presentation in Michigan City. -

    In Tinley Park, ILLINOIS we enjoyed the hospitality ofWalter Leeper and Marjorie Marbach, and were fascinatedto meet a group of Jews in Hillcrest who accept Jesus astheir MESSIAH. I brought them a message from ISAIAH.

    Sunday, May 14, found us in WILMINGTON for the morningservice, and STREATOR in the evening, with a message on"SEND THE LIGHT THE LIFE AND THE LOVE I" It wasso good there to renew fellowship with our fantasticforwarding agents Harry and Shirley Camp, and tomeet with Alma Jones for scripture and prayer.

    And so we said good-bye, and flew over Lake Michigan,down to Tennessee, swooping low over Tampa, and downinto Miami. We spent the night there, and boarded ourSouth African Airways' jet the next day. We flew offinto the sunset, experienced a terrifying jolt in theBermuda tri^gle during the night, but the Lord broughtus safely through to Table Mountain and Cape Town.

    GPEENHAVEN++++++++++

    Recently in South Africa our rugby team the SPRINGBOKS won the VJorld Cup. This led to me bringing a message inGreenhaven on "CHRISTIAN TEAM VJORKV I also brgught them alesson on Jude, and this morning a message on "JOHN 17." Awonderful spirit of Christian love is growing among them.One sister said: "Satan tried to stop me from coming, but Ihad to be here to hear Pastor Carroll tell us that Jesus ispraying for me!"

    MITCHELL'S PLAIN++++++++++++++++

    In Mitchell's Plain I have recently brought messages on"JONAH" and "DEUTERONOMY." Brother Chris said: "V7e tendto forget the Ten Commandments, and it's good to be remindedagain."

    BIBLE SUMMARY+++++++++++++

    My Bible Summary. STRAIGHT TALK FROM GOD, is nearing itsfinal phases. I am now keying the book of MICAH into thecomputer. I just need to do NAHUM to MALACEI, and then redoI KINGS. After that I will need to do the corrections, andthe Bibliography, and send the final proof to Tyndale House.Please pray for God's guidance and direction on this. Manypeople saw and heard the rough proofs, and we received a lotof encouraging and favorable comments. Martha's brother,Stephen, is having some trouble setting up the printer forthe book of LEVITICUS, but Lara is going to help him today.Here is a selection from DEUTERONOMY 34

    Moses now climbed from the plains of Moab to Pisgah Peakin Mount Nebo. The Lord showed him the Promised Land asthey looked out over Gilead.

    "This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,"said the Lord. "Now yoxir own eyes have seen ito"

    Then Moses, the servant of the Lord, died in the Icuid of Moabjust as God had said. The Lord buried him in a nearby valley,but no one knows the exact place

    Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight v;asperfect, and he was as strong as a young man. The people of

    Israel mourned for him for 30 days there on the plainsof Moab.

    Joshua, his successor, was filled with wisdom,because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the peopleof Israel obeyed Joshua, and follov/ed the commands thatthe Lord had given them through Moses

    Tnere has never been another prophet like Moses.The Lord spoke to him face to face, and at God's commandhe performed amazing miracles miracles that have neverbeen equalled since that time. He did great andterrifying wonders in the presence of Pharoah and hisentire court in Egypt, as well as among the people ofIsrael in the wilderness.

    Yes! South Africais calling you again. I really don't know what

    happened to this year. I turned around, and there it wasGONE! Did you notice that too? I tell you -- old age iscreeping up! Lara said the other day: "You've got towork through a whole 21 years to become of age, andthen in another 19 years you're 40!" I said: "Yes - andin another 19 years you're pushing 60!" Well, I shouldknow, because I'm already 60! Ooh boy.

    It was wonderful this past month to share in abaptismal service for four of our people. We made ourway to Princess Vlei - a lake on the Cape Peninsula --where I brought a message on "THE NEW BIRTH".Brother Chris Lakay performed the baptism. It is such ajoy to see new souls born into Christ, and we do praiseGod for these tangible rewards for our labors!

    It was also my privilege recently to share in theordination service for Brother Chris at the ALOE ROADcongregation in LENTEGEUR, MITCHELL'S PLAIN. There

    was a good group from several different areas. I gave theprayer duringthe laying on of hands c^rQmony,

    Anumber of Russians were present, and it was goodto bring them the message of the gospel of LIGHT, LIFEand the LOVE of our Lord. The service was well received.

    My Young People's Bible Summary, "STRAIGHTTALK FROM GOD", is nearly all keyed into the computernow. The next step is the final editing stage beforesubmtsston to the^publtsher. Please^pray with meGod will continue to lead in each phase of this, and thatHis name will be glorified.

    At the ALOE ROAD Congregation in MITCHELL'SPLAIN I am bringing a series of messages on the MINORPROPHETS, using my Bible Summaries as the base of themessages. They are proving to be a blessing to those whocome.

    Martha's son, Bradley, left recently on a flight toMALAYSIA and PERTH, AUSTRALIA to spend a few monthswith his father. We have already been in contact withhim by phone. He's okay, but missing home.

    Tim has called from WISCONSIN with the news thathe is engaged. We are very happy for him, and prayGod's blessing on him and Sue.

    May the Lord encourage you, guide you, and richlysupply all your needs according to His riches in glory byChrist Jesus.

    In closing we bring you a few verses from Job 28 in'STRAIGHT TALK FROM GOD."

    -ooOOoo--

    1. Sure, man can dig a silver mine.And he can work with gold, we know.

    He brings up iron to refine.And copper from the rock below.

    9. Down to the mountains' roots he goes.And drills clean through the flint below

    To find those choice and precious stones.And make those hidden jewels glow.

    12. But where is wisdom? Ask him now --Yes, where is understanding s source?

    Ah, that's the thing man doesn't know --His life has somehow missed it's course.

    2(t Well, where does wisdom stay today?And where can understanding be?

    We lost it somewhere on our way --The grave itself can't find the key!

    23. God knows where wisdom can be found,He also knows how much it's worth.

    He sees the universe all round.And peers down to the depths of earth.

    25. When God gave wind the strength to blow,When every seashore He had mapped,

    When He made raindrops fall below, - When lightning flashed- and thunder-

    cracked,27. Then God saw wisdom with clear eyes --

    Approved it all, and said to man;"Revere the Lord - and you'll be wise.

    Repent from sin --you'll understand!"
