Here (above) I have used vernacular typog- raphy, which I gathered from a photograph I took. I used Photoshop to trace the letters and numbers into paths, which I then trans- ferred to illustrator in order to use the colour pallet. I then chose a Monochromatic colour scheme as the letters and numbers are on different angled surfaces, so using tints and shades of a certain hue i thought the best way to emphasise this. I attempted to com- pose this with the “golden ratio”, this I thought was almost naturally in the piece as of its angle from top right to bottom left. The top piece I incorporated standard type, of which I acquired in my font book. The word option I chose as I think in a design world the options are endless. The colour scheme was chosen to create maximum contrast with the background and the type, especially as the design i chose was to put a 2d font over the top meeting with the background i felt it needed complementary colours on opposite side of the wheel. I also used symmetry here to further emphasise on the already apparent 3 dimensions in the piece. Above I wanted to produce an abstract type by using a mixture of vernacular and standard fonts, manipulated to try and recreate a font stamp block, used in pre digital printing. Hence where the word type was chosen. I chose analogous colours as I GLGQ·W ZDQW WKHP WR GLIIHU WRR much, complementing each other and making them look together on one “stamp”.

Here (above) I have used vernacular typog-raphy, which I gathered from a photograph I took. I used Photoshop to trace the letters and numbers into paths, which I then trans-ferred to illustrator in order to use the colour pallet. I then chose a Monochromatic colour scheme as the letters and numbers are on different angled surfaces, so using tints and shades of a certain hue i thought the best way to emphasise this. I attempted to com-pose this with the “golden ratio”, this I thought was almost naturally in the piece as of its angle from top right to bottom left.

The top piece I incorporated standard type, of which I acquired in my font book. The word option I chose as I think in a design world the options are endless. The colour scheme was chosen to create maximum

contrast with the background and the type, especially as the design i chose was to put

a 2d font over the top meeting with the background i felt it needed complementary colours on opposite side of the wheel. I also used symmetry here to further emphasise on the already apparent 3 dimensions in

the piece.

Above I wanted to produce an abstract type by using a

mixture of vernacular and standard fonts, manipulated

to try and recreate a font stamp block, used in pre

digital printing. Hence where the word type was chosen. I

chose analogous colours as I

much, complementing each other and making them look

together on one “stamp”.

To produce these images I used 3ds max and Photoshop, first choosing a suitable font then exporting the paths from Photoshop into 3ds max and extrud-ing, scaling, texturizing etc. to suit its background. I also learnt skills in lighting, and cameras within an animated 3d space. I tried with each to produce a composition where word and background meet in an interesting way, suggesting a narrative.

The Streets”, covered by myself in speech to keep to brief guidelines. I recorded myself on a Dictaphone, after editing in adobe audition I then used

For this stop motion animation I based it on a phrase suggesting movement, “on thin ice”. My main aim was to produce an animation that my viewers enjoyed to watch through embedding expectations into the narrative. After photographing each frame, I used batch automation in Photoshop to resize and filter some colours to reduce the light flicker. Then after editing a few frames where necessary I put it together in after effects at the correct frame rate.

In this project I researched the differences between a piece of my own work and another persons. I studied my stop motion anima-tion, so was keen to discover if my expectations had had any affect. I gathered 20 questions, on emotions, enjoyment, narratives

and expectations. I then showed my participants my animation and another persons before asking them the 20 questions on camera after. It was interesting to discover what people liked and disliked about both pieces, I gathered answers that will influence future work. I took the opportunity of having my participants on video to edit in, what I thought to be, the most important/interesting

answers. I used after effects and simply used motion tracking and some rotoscoping effects before editing together in premier.

I chose this apple iPhone 5 advert as I thought it had a strong thesis, and could be easily manipulated. I reverse engineered the original trying to discover the thesis. Then creating my own anti-thesis I reworked it into the original. I was targeting their sense of planned

obsolescence, consumerism, innovation, and the desire they all work into the piece. I reworked my anti thesis into the composition by writing my own script, recording myself speaking it, deleting the original soundtrack and building my own. I recorded and edited the

audio with adobe audition, I used premier to edit the video and include the audio.

This animation I produced from one painting, 1768 Famous Race Horse George Stubbs. After cutting, pasting different segments into sepa-rate layers in Photoshop, I then bridged to after effects where I then animated the sequence using key frames and moving each segment. I analysed a video of a horse running to produce accurate movement. I also experimented with the puppet tool in after effects, further giving

me more option to my animated movements.

In this brief I experi-mented with rhythms, here obviously being a flowing rhythm. I took photographs of objects, edited them, created stamps and pattern tools to produce the spine like graphic. I also used my knowledge of colour theory from earlier briefs to select two contrasting colours, which were initially selected from the origi-nal image.

For this progres-sive rhythm I

was inspired by a memory of a

camera to televi-sion to camera

image cycle, making an

infinite progres-sion. So I

applied this to the object it was going to wallpa-

per to further extend the effect

beyond the graphic into the physical world.

Here I have produced a com-puter-sized back-ground, I used again photographs as the base, edited them using differ-ent techniques such as image traces, filters, and cutting them. This image was made to have a standard rhythm, and I was restricted to one colour.

This placard I aimed at increased tax. I developed a few ideas including the idea of people “holding up” their government (left) , or what I made the word tax with the government sitting above. I was working around quite Marxist ideology, I also looked into the expression 1% control the 99%. Although I didn’t think this to be powerful/straight forward enough. Whilst looking through related words to do with oppression I came across the expression iron hand, which is where the hand taking the money of the little man arrived. It is supposed to explain how the “iron hand” or government are stealing money from the helpless little man against his will. The brief stated I had to design rst on the computer before hand producing later, for this I used many tools, including image trace, colour ll, and mesh warp in illustrator.

In this brief I had to super compose Animated murals into video footage, i wanted to use places where murals are not usually find, and then animate a something with a relationship. I used many techniques including batch image tracing, motion tracking and

roto-scoping brush to name a few to produce these animations.
