The Hobart City Mission Volunteering Program offer social and vocational opportunities in some of it’s programs. Please read on to find out how you can help support your local community.

PROGRAMS

- Marketing and Events

- School Holiday Camps (Kidz on a Mission)

Pastoral Care

- Support to Families of Prisoners;

- School Chaplaincy

Family & Community Support Services (FACSS)

- Family Assistance & Counselling;

- Emergency Relief;

- Financial Guidance, NILS & Budgeting;

- Transitional Support Services;

- Group Homes - Community Integration Program for people with intellectual disabilities;

- Mountain View Units - Accommodation for men over 55 years.

Retail

- Opportunity shops located at Hobart, Warrane, Goodwood, Huonville, Moonah & Claremont;

- Furniture Bargain Warehouse - Moonah;

- Pick Up & Delivery Service;

- Sorting Room - Springfield

MARKETING AND EVENTS

Hobart City Mission run a series of events throughout the year including but not limited to:

- Appeals;

- Optomeyes Art Exhibition;

- Christmas Assistance Program;

- Collection Day.

CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING

Corporate or employee volunteering is a commitment by local businesses to encourage an employee to volunteer in their local community. It can range from individual volunteering to team or whole of business volunteering. Businesses involved in corporate volunteering contributes positively to the benefits of the local community, the employee and their business.

ADMINISTRATION

Volunteering support to administration staff may include:

- Data entry and basic computer work;

- Answering phone;

- Making appointments for clients;

- Liaising with relevant agencies and NGO's;

VOLUNTEERING

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

RETAIL OPERATIONS PROGRAM

The aim of our retail operation is to generate funds from the collection of donations through marketing and the sale of goods within our retail stores and main warehouse facility. These funds are entirely directed towards supporting the charitable and welfare activities of the Hobart City Mission in Southern Tasmania.

The retail program offers many volunteering opportunities including work experience opportunities for those seeking to enter the workforce.

PRIMARY TASKS IN VARIOUS RETAIL AREAS MAY INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

- Customer service;

- Cash handling;

- EFTPOS / credit card processing;

- Assisting with the receipt of new stock;

- Sorting and / or rearranging goods for display;

- Recording stock transactions (goods received; goods sold; etc.);

- Sorting goods received as donations;

- Providing assistance to truck driver for the pick up and delivery service.

AMBULANCE BUDDIES

Hobart City Mission’s Ambulance Buddie’s Program is a support service for inpatients of the New Norfolk District Hospital, who require a companion to travel with them by ambulance from the New Norfolk District to medical appointments.
