How to Apply to University in
England
• You can apply to 5 universities using UCAS• Unless you do medicine and you can only apply
to 4
Personal Statement• As well as entering the 5
universities you wish to apply to, and stating which course you want to do, you have to submit a personal statement
• This is 4,000 characters• It is your chance to tell the
university why they should accept you and why you want to do your course
Deadlines
• Middle of October is the deadline for Oxford Cambridge applications and those who want to study medicine
• Middle of January is the deadline for all other courses and universities
• Universities usually reply by February but it can be the end of March
Offers
• When you receive your offers you have to decide where you want to go
• You will have received a conditional offer• This means you have to get certain results to
be able to go, for example AAB. If you do not get the results they say you cannot go
• Once you have decided you have to reply to UCAS
• You will have a 1st and a 2nd choice• You have two incase you don’t get the grades
for your first choice, then you go to your second
• If you don’t get the grades for either of the universities, you have to take a year out
Results Day • Results day is the third Thursday is August
• You go to your school to receive your results
• You also log in to your account on UCAS to see if you have got into your university
