FROM THE DESK OF THE ADMINISTRATOR You will find a page insert today regarding the Re-vised Mass and Confession Schedule for our grouping effective 1 July 2019. With receiving St. Aloysius Parish and removing St. Nicholas Parish, some schedule changes are possible to address some of the needs ex-pressed in the Mass survey last December. Recall our current “Priest Budget” is THREE (3) and no more than NINE (9) Masses. As I've often said, Frs. Jerry Lutz and Moses Drammeh are blessings and don't count to our total. At some point, we could be down to only TWO (2) Priests and only SIX (6) Masses. Therefore, the Clergy Team and Advisory Councils felt it impractical to start adding Sunday Masses, like the survey suggested we should do. We have kept our current EIGHT (8) Masses. Regarding the Sunday Schedule: As we understand it, the SAP 4:00 PM is wildly popular, we decided to keep it and drop the 6:00 PM at HSP, which was wildly un-popular. As HSP was desiring to have an earlier Mass on Sunday, we decided to move the 8:30 AM to there. Given the current constraints of our clergy budget, we decided NOT to add Masses to ASP and SBP. Regarding the Weekday Schedule: Here we could make a few changes to address survey issues. The Wednesday morning 8:00 PM Mass would move to SBP. The Clergy Team thought about dropping the ASP Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM due to poor attendance. Then I celebrated it on 22 May. It was “crowded”! Hon-estly, I often feel that we haven't given that Mass enough “advertisement” for those who work and would like an evening Mass. At this point, I have decided it should stay. However, should this Mass return to the usual TEN (10) people, the Clergy Team thought to move it to 6:40 AM at SBP. The Saturday morning 8:00 AM Mass would move to ASP. Regarding the Confession Schedule: It retains some of the previous times while changing locations and add-ing SAP to the mix. As the Advisory Councils have given approval to this new schedule, we bring it to you to gauge your satisfac-tion with it. I ask you to go to the website: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/W79KX77 to answer the one question survey. The survey will close on 23 June 2019. As for next steps, once I have your feedback, I am required to write our Regional Vicar, Bishop Waltersheid, stating the process and results. Hopefully, he will grant approval for the new schedule to be effective 1 July.

See you in Church! Fr. Jim Gretz

HOLY SPIRIT CHRISTIAN MOTHERS MEETING The next meeting of the CM/WG will be held this Mon-day, June 17th, at 6:30 PM in the Holy Spirit Cafeteria. Hosted by #3 Holy Spirit Guild. The topics of the meeting will include the parish picnic and raffle baskets.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO SELL RAFFLE TICKETS We are in need of volunteers to sell tickets for the Holy Spirit Cash Raffle on the island across from the Hardee’s. If you have a few hours, call the parish office at 412-821-4424 and they will inform you of the dates and times needed for sellers.

And , by the way, one Mass will be celebrated on the 4th of July and that will be at All Saints, Etna, at 9am.

ADELPHOI SCHOOL MOVES ON Adelphoi School, which leases classroom space in the Holy Spirit School building, has informed us that they will no longer be using our site. Their vacancy will happen immediately as it corresponds with the completion of their academic year. They have been with us for a num-ber of years and continue to offer programs that help troubled children and youth prepare for life. We wish them well as they move on to a new location.

THANK YOU TO CHRISTIAN MOTHERS! Once again we are grateful to the Christian Mothers of Holy Spirit Parish who so beautifully helped to organize

our Pentecost Sunday observance of our parish’s Feast Day. We thank them for underwriting the cost of the catered dinner—which was delicious—and for providing a variety of homemade tasty desserts.

JUNE IS NATIONAL SAFETY MONTH Injuries are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 1-44. The good news? Everyone can get involved to help prevent injuries. During National Safety Month, we encourage you to learn more about important safety is-sues like preventing poisonings, transportation safety, and slips, trips and falls.

Poisonings: Nine out of ten poisonings happen right at home. You can be poisoned by many things, like clean-ing products or another person’s medicine. Check your cabinets for any chemicals that might be in reach of chil-dren, grandchildren or visitors and move to a safe loca-tion. Dispose of old medications safely. There are many local agencies that provide for such a service. Transportation safety: Doing other activities while driving—like texting or eating—distracts you and in-creases your chance of crashing. Almost 1 or 6 crashes where someone is injured involves distracted driving. Many phones today allow you to set up an auto response that says “I can’t respond right now, I’m driving.” Slips, trips and falls: More than 1 in 4 older adults fall each year. Many falls lead to broken bones or head inju-ries, which is often the entry way into a nursing facility for recovery. Protect yourself by removing obstacles in the home, on the stairways, in the yard and in the garage.

You can make a difference! For more safety hints, visit the National Safety Council at www.nsc.org/home.
