As the new Executive Director, I continue to be in awe at what

our organization accomplishes every year - with 2014 being no exception. It was a year with many challenges. There were countless Protection and Investigations cases which just highlight to me the great importance of the work we do – and it doesn’t end there. The

animals who find their way to our facility, regardless of the reasons why, are provided with the best of care for their entire stay with us; some only a day or two but others for much longer. The team works tirelessly at restoring health, rebuilding confidence and providing companionship. We do everything possible to ensure each and every animal has a happy ending to their story. These successes are all possible because of your unwavering support. For this support we are incredibly grateful.

These are the stories we celebrate as it is this which inspires me and the entire CHS team who work with such dedication, professionalism and strength, to continue on. Stories like little Marshmallow, who was abused by her owner but now lives safely in her new home; Innis who found her way into the engine compartment of a truck on a frigid winter day and survived a harrowing journey from Innisfail to Calgary only to be discovered days later and brought to CHS to recover and find a new family to love her; Daisy Mae and her nine puppies who were left to fend for themselves but are now happy and healthy and getting a second chance; and the thousands of other successes which motivate us to help the next animal who finds their way here.

You can continue to offer a second chance to the animals in our shelter right now by purchasing a gift of Comfort, Hope, Care, Shelter or Education. You will find the perfect gift for the animal lover on your list in our holiday catalogue and also give a CHS animal a chance for their happy ending.

From all of us at Calgary Humane Society… Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Our mission is simple:“To help as many animals

as we can”.

Through the generous support of caring individuals and corporations in our community, Calgary Humane Society is able to provide assistance to almost 6,000 animals in need each year. All of the animals that come through the doors of the Society are in immediate need of shelter, food and a caring , compassionate friend. While the need for our services continue to grow, our work to fulfil our mission is unwavering. With your help, we will continue to foster a community where all lives are respected and treated with compassion.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many animals this holiday season.

By choosing to become a PAWS donor you are showing your continuous dedication by breaking down your gift into small, budget friendly, regular monthly contributions that show your love the entire year through. Cash flow is critical in being able to provide a steady reliable source of funding to care for over 6,000 homeless, neglected and abused animals each year. It is the easiest and the best way you can provide help for today and hope for tomorrow.

It’s convenient and manageable – Your monthly donations are payable automatically through your bank account, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.

It makes a huge impact – The size of your gift is not as important as its consistency. Your monthly donations allow a steady cash flow to care for over 6,000 animals that are in need of a caring and compassionate temporary home.

It’s Flexible – You can increase or decrease your support, put it on hold for a few months, or cancel at any time. Breaking down your support is a budget-friendly way to make a huge difference.

Tax benefit – You’ll receive one tax receipt early in the New Year for the total of your donations the previous year.

Meet WynneWe added Wynne (formally Opal) to our family on March 1st , 2014. We weren’t even looking for an addition to the family since we had just lost our dog. But upon meeting Wynne, we fell in love

and took her home that night. After a turbulent 6 weeks due to her spay site getting infected and the need to reoperate, she was finally healthy. We graduated from Precocious Puppy classes. She has been a great addition to the family and in 6 short months had proven how loving a dog can be, more silly than silly and sweeter than sweet. Little kids in the neighbourhood love getting kisses from her. She enjoys camping, swimming, biking, car rides and swimming with Daddy. We’ve begun teaching her to seek in hopes of training her to become a volunteer search and rescue dog. We have greatly enjoyed the last 6 months and look forward to the next 6 months and beyond.

Meet MadelineMy boyfriend and I wanted to let you all know that Miriam, now known as Madeline has become a real part of our family! She’s definitely the big sister and the discipliner of the 3 but her brother Beckett and her sister London do their best to kiss her, snuggle her and let her know she is part of the pack. One thing we love about Madeline is how much she loves to cuddle! Every night the 5 of us hop into bed and have cuddle time, which means most of the time Madeline falls asleep or puts her dad to sleep with her warm cuddles. We love having her with us and we think the feeling is mutual. She lets us know shes happy by binking in the backyard, ripping around her indoor yard and nudging us for some lovings.
