HORSCH. Working side by side with farmersSpecialisation, growth, cooperation: due to rapid changesin agriculture, manufacturers of agricultural equipment arefacing new challenges. Optimising the cultivation, seedingand harvesting process, reducing costs as well as increasingyields and quality of crops are our prime goals.

As an innovative pioneer, HORSCH has become one of theleading manufacturers of cultivation and seeding technology.

New technological standards are rigorously tested in our trials- standards of quality, precision and durability. HORSCH advises farmers on the development of individual croppingsystems and farming strategies. Together with our distributors and service agents HORSCH aims to provide the bestcustomer service by ensuring that repairs are carried outswiftly and that spare parts are always available.

Soil preparation, seeding, fertilisation, consolidation

The Sprinter ST is a tine seeder that combines soil preparation, seeding and fertilisation in one pass. The robust Sprinterhas clear advantages in min-till conditions, with lots of strawresidues still remaining on the soil surface. Strong framedesign, low draft coulters and large seed hoppers allow highperformance with an excellent economic inpuVoutput ratio.

Several time-consuming processes are reduced to one pass, thus increasing the precision of seed and fertiliser placement. The gentle tyre packing system ensures optimal seed to soilcontact.

Not only does the use of the Sprinter result in better efficiency, but in an improved, even seed germination and stronger plants(HORSCH PPF-System). Ideal conditions for high yield potential are thereby created.

Page 3: HORSCH. Working side

Seeding with high precisionThe multi-row frame of the Sprinter is carried by front wheels!front packer and the tandem tyre packer. The depth control is separate for each frame section. Thus, each sectioncan adjust individually to the ground surface and place theseeds precisely at the set depth. When lifting or lowering theSprinter, the whole frame is moved to ensure quick u-turnsand an even start of operation. All Sprinter ST are equippedwith large-capacity seed hoppers up to 4000 litres. The seedwaggon of the Sprinter SW even has a capacity of 8000 litresof seed and fertilizer for maximum efficiency.

The coulters are mounted on durable tines with a trip release

system. The trip release system requires more than 200 kgof force in order to set off. This ensures consistent seedingdepth - also in problematic soil types and conditions. Thecoulters place the seeds in bands. A harrow provides even soilcoverage. Finally each seed band is consolidated with a tyre

packer (tractor treaded tyres) to guarantee good seed to soilcontact.

The Sprinter can be equipped with two different shanks. Thelow cost Classic shank has proven to be durable over theyears. The new MUltiGrip shank has an effective trip releasesystem with a coulter pressure of 280 kg. The powerful set ofsprings ensures precise coulter setting and therefore seedingdepth - even in heavy soil. High quality materials and largepivoting points make grease nipples unnecessary.

The seed coulters of the Sprinters are arranged in 2 or 3 barswith a tine spacing from 25 em to 32 em (depending on theworking width). Different coulters are available which can bechanged easily.

The coulters prepare a perfect seed bed. Like a cultivatorthey loose, level, mix and crush the soil. The coulters remove

stones, rough soil clods and straw residues from the area ofseed placement. The seeds are placed with precision and the

young plants can grow undisturbed and develop a strong rootsystem.

Meeting the nutrition needs of young plantsThe stronger a young plant develops under optimal growthconditions, the easier it can cope with stressful situations likedrought, stagnant water or herbicide sprays and keep its yieldpotential.

The HORSCH PPF-System ensures optimal developmentof young plants by piacing smaIi quantities of highly concentrated nutrients precisely into the main root zone.

The coulter point opens the soil and loosens the area belowthe seeds. The fertiliser is placed directly into the open slot, precisely 5 em below the double seed row. This allows foradditional drainage under wet conditions. The precise placement saves fertiliser costs and prevents unnecessary fertilising of weeds.

of nitrogen. Even high, fixed nitrogen rates can be appliedwithout the danger of leaching.

Your benefits include:precise placement of nutrients close to the plantquick and sustainable fertiliser effecthigh efficiency of fertiliserhigh stability of fertilisergood plant tolerance also with large fertiliser quantitieshigh economic viability of fertiliser usage

-

Before the seed leaves the coulter, the soil above the fertiliserdeposit is consolidated. On top of this separation layer of consolidated soil the seeds are placed. The separation layer prevents damage to the plant, even with high application rates

CD replaceable coulter point - opens the soil and loosens the area below the seeds.

@ wedge shaped plale - closes the slot and consolidates the soil for 2 - 3 em.

@ plastic slide shield - soil does nol slick to it, even under wet conditions.

Page 6: HORSCH. Working side

To ensure proper seed coverage and an even soil/strawdistribution above the seed bands, a 2-row harrow or 1-rowV-shaped harrow follows behind the coulters. The harrowcan be adjusted in height and angle. At last, the tandem tyrepacker consolidates the seed band. The packing system isaligned in such a way that each tyre follows exactly behinda coulter. Thus, each seed band is consolidated evenly andeach seed has optimal soil contact.

The tandem principal also allows for better depth control andsupports precise seed placement. The tyres have a tractorprofile tread and are filled with air. As an option, the tyres canbe filled with PU.

The tandem packer does not need scrapers because itswheels are staggered and not aligned in a row. The tractorprofile of the tyres and the consistent tensioning of the rubber

keep the tyres clean, also under wet conditions. For roadtransport, the middle section of the packing system acts astransport wheels.

The DriliManager is the control panel of the Sprinter. It adjustsand controls all functions of the seeder. The modular designallows for a customised version of each individual machinetype.

The monitor and switchbox of the DriliManager are placed inthe tractor cabin according to the drivers needs. All settingssuch as seed rate, fertiliser rate, speed, revolutions and tramline rhythms are individually programmed and permanentlychecked. Any variation to the settings is immediately signalledto the driver.

Powerful HORSCH metering unit

The metering unit consists of 5 parts only (housing, electricmotor, seed roller bearings and rear lid with metering lip) andis driven by an electric motor. For different seed rates, a variety

of seed rollers are available and can be changed in just a fewminutes. Before starting to seed, the metering unit needs tobe calibrated once. The calibration procedure does not needto be repeated several times. Precise sensors and optimiseddesign guarantee precise and gentle metering of the seeds.

Large seed hopper

On all Sprinter ST versions, the hopper with a capacity from3000 to 4000 Iitres is mounted on the machine. The capacityof the 3000 I hoppers can be increased to 3700 I. The doublehopper version with 3800 litres (60% seed 140% solid fertilizer)is available as an alternative! The seed waggon 8000 SW ofthe Sprinter SW has a capacity of 8000 I (partition 50% seed 150% solid or liquid fertilizer).

Good manoeuvrability

A two-point pivoting headstock links the compact Sprinter withthe tractor. Tractors with wide tyres can make close turns, upto 90'. Any mechanical drives were eliminated.

Precise depth controlThe Sprinter is carried and the seeding depth controlled bytwo front wheels, the tandem packer and the tractor. A frontpacking system is optional and supports precise depth control.

PPF System for granular fertiliser

The Sprinter ST can be equipped with the HORSCH PPFSystem (Precision Placement of Fertiliser). The granularsystem includes a two compartment hopper for seed andfertiliser.
