Even small local businesses have heard of the Google Algorithm whichis the formula it uses to decide which websites should rank on whichpage of the search engine results and why.

One of my jobs is to ensure that my customer’s websites rank for theirkeywords in order to get more visitors so, you can imagine that I took agreat interest in Google’s latest algorithm change whereby site contentwas to be scrutinised much more closely than before.

Although my sites aren’t affected there are plenty that are becausetheir content is either copied from other sites or is simply placed to‘fool’ Google into thinking that the site is more appropriate that it reallyis. Google calls these ‘thin’ sites that just farm content in from contentfarmers (sources that supply copied content to them) and it hascracked down so hard that over 11% of all searches have beenaffected by the change in the rules.

‘Google Farmer’ as it’s been dubbed affects all sorts of sites but, especially e-commerce sites as the methods of optimising them mayhave been a little ‘grey hat’ shall we say. If you have a person orcompany working on your business website’s SEO, then do check thatyou’re not going to get de-ranked by this latest change by Google.

Starbucks Brews aYear of Activity

Starbucks officially revealed its new globalbrand identity this week setting off a year-longprogramme of events and launches as part ofthe coffee chain’s 40th anniversarycelebrations. In the 40 years since it opened its first store inSeattle, Starbucks has swelled to 17,000 stores in55 countries. It serves 60 million customers a week worldwide, 2million of those in the UK.It’s a hefty retail operation, and is a brand that isloved by many. It’s also one that tries to be allthings to all people.Offering something for everyone is not an easystrategy for a brand to pull off and often ends witha brand overstretching and finding that it meansnothing to anyone. When Howard Schultz took the helm three yearsago, he kicked off a transformation. This week’s roll out of a new brand logo acrossstores, the overhaul of store designs, and thelaunch of a new website are just part of thattransformation.Messing around with a brand consumers holddear is a risky business, as Gap demonstrated, butthat lack of fall out from Starbucks brand refreshhas shown that it is possible to usher in changeon a global scale without alienating customers. The thought behind the new Starbucks logo whichdrops the corporate wording leaving only the Sirenfigure is that it gives the brand more space todiversify into other retail categories.Starbucks remains tight-lipped about what areasit will diversify into but I am told there will besome big announcements from the brand in thecoming year as part of its 40th anniversarycelebration. Its rival Costa Coffee, which is currently runningan aggressive anti-Starbucks campaign, has justacquired Coffee Nation and announced that it ismoving into the self-service coffee market underthe Coffee Express.A similar move into the self-service coffee marketisn’t on Starbucks’ radar and it is focusing onelevating the experience in its coffee houses.

6

When I met Brian Waring the vice-president ofmarketing and category at Starbucks UK & Irelandat the opening of its first UK store with the newbranding, he talked me through the chain’sstrategy to innovate at every end of the spectrumfrom quick caffeine fixes to leisurely afternoonsand at home instant coffee to rare bean blends.Part of its innovation programme is to play aroundwith the types of stores it opens and in whichlocations.Whether it is larger luxurious coffee houses thatencourage patrons to spend a few hours, or “speedstores” like its recently opened Covent Garden sitewhich has only bench seating and caters forcustomers that just want to grab their coffee andgo. So, while being all things to all people can often bea signal that a business doesn’t have a clear viewof its strategy, I think in Starbucks’ case it saysquite the opposite.

AP sues retailers forusing Obama image

The Associated Press (AP) is suing Americanretailers Urban Outfitters, Nordstrom andZumiez for using unauthorised images ofPresident Barack Obama on their clothing. The original photo, which was used in the iconic“Hope” Obama campaign poster, is owned by AP.AP says the retailers’ use of the image, taken byone of its photographers, is a breach of copyright. The image is also the subject of another legaldispute relating to artist Shepard Fairey whoadapted the photo for use in the presidentialcampaign.AP said it would sue Fairey in 2009 but they settledthe dispute inJanuary with anagreement to splitthe proceeds of hismerchandisecarrying the image.Urban Outfitters,Nordstrom andZumiez did notrespond to requestsfor comment in timefor publication.

Over the years there have been times when products are released which make you stand back inamazement at just how useful and powerful they are and where they make you wonder how youever managed to live without them.

Is Tube Fool one of those?

It certainly looks that way.

Tube fool is not available to the general public at the time of writing but it soon will be where it willhave extra features bolted onto it to make it even better value for money.

So, what is Tube Fool?

You may have guessed that it is something to do with YouTube.com and you'd be right, it is.

It isn't made or promoted by YouTube but it's an Internet marketing tool that will be useful to anyonewho needs targeted subscribers quickly and who don't mind making, or getting hold of original short, two minute videos to upload to YouTube on a regular basis. Once you have four or five of your 'own'videos, you can use other people's by adding other account holder's videos to your playlist. The mainthing is to add videos on a regular basis.

This technique can be useful for building your own niche subscriber list or for helping your customersbuild lists so that they can build a relationship with their potential customers and, indeed, make sales.

The idea is to launch Tube Fool and enter in a users name who is already in the niche that you'reinvolved in. So let's say that you're making a product on 'golf'. Enter the word 'golf' into the YouTubesearch bar. You will be presented with videos about golf. Choose any user and enter it into Tube Fool. The software will then all the friends of this user into the Tube Fool database.

You can repeatedly do this with as many users as you please. Once your database of people, who areobviously interested in golf (as they've all either joined as friends or subscribers to the golf niche) hasgrown to a few hundred, or even thousand, you simply select them all from your list and press start.

You will already have joined YouTube and uploaded at least five of your own videos on the niche of golfand added other videos, made by other golf enthusiasts, to your channel on YouTube.

- Tube Fool 2.0

Page 8: Internet Marketing Bugle - Volume 14: Issue 87

Once started, Tube Fool will contact each person in your new database asking them to join yourchannel. You will find that your list grows very quickly as you request more from your database eachday.

In one week one of my accounts reached several hundred friends and over fifty subscribers. This maynot sound like many but you must remember that they are all already in the niche market that I'mtargeting so, more likely sales will become of it as I KNOW they are definitely interested in my subject.

You can also target 'commenter's', that's those who leave comments on particular videos. Thesepeople are active so are good for you to contact. It's not good to go for a person who last posted on thesite four years ago, for example.

You can also search users using keywords. So if you type 'golf swing'into Tube Fool, it will search for users who have used that term. Byvarying your keywords you can pull in, literally, thousands of activeusers and add them to your database. It takes time for yourcomputer to contact each person (it uses the YouTube api) as thereare rules about how quickly you can do this. On average a personcan be contacted every one minute and forty seconds. This meansyou need to leave your computer running overnight or whenever toget the best from it.

I just let the program run while working on other things as it doesn'ttake your processing power away.

There are a number of other features being added to Tube Fool, like multi-threading where you canhave several accounts all working for you at the same time. This means that if you have severalprojects on the go or a number of different customers, you don't need to queue them, they can all beactive at the same time.

I'm currently using it for myself and three customer's accounts where the lists are definitely growingfastest than using any other system or strategy.

And the beauty is, I'm getting sign-ups from people who have been targeted rather than just a randomselection of people who just sign-up as a subscriber to gain the free gift you're offering.

Once they subscribe to your channel then you are legally allowed to contact them as often as youplease rather then the one minute forty second 'once only' deal with YouTube. Adding them to yourautoresponder series of newsletters and sales letters is the ultimate goal which you do after a fewhundred have joined your channel on YouTube.

The software has just been released at the time of writing and is around $77.00 A stunning piece ofsoftware that is improving all the time. Used every day for different niche markets it'll be so valuableyou'll wonder how you ever managed without it, as I've already said. Incredible programming andhighly recommended for anyone serious about marketing their product using the Internet as amarketing tool.

Product Review - Tube Fool 2.0 (continued)

Page 9: Internet Marketing Bugle - Volume 14: Issue 87

Google Sniper 2.0 works, it's just about getting it to work for you. That's what the openingsequence at 'Sniper X' says via the distinctive vocal chords of 18 year old George Brown.

I reviewed a George Brown business course a couple of years ago where it got a firm thumbs up fromme. Google Sniper followed and, just over a year later, Google Sniper 2.0 arrived.

It's a long time since I purchased an ebook as it's all video nowadays but Google Sniper 2.0 (GS2) ismainly an easy to read manual about what you need to do with your Wordpress blog in order to pull inprofits of around $300 a month. You can earn $10,000 a month but that's once you become a SuperSniper and is covered later on in the manual.

Even top UK marketers who have rammed down our throats not to go for the latest shiny new InternetMarketing offers, that come along to distract us, are singing the praises and actually promoting GS2for commission on each sale. It's easy to see why, because there is no hype or BS in the manual, no'secrets' or anything that the vendor has 'stumbled across' nor is there a 'loophole' that Google haven'tcovered yet, no, GS2 is simply an easy to follow instruction on preparing, setting up and promotingyour Wordpress blog.

There are videos to accompany the manual so you can watch and learn as well.

For an extra payment each month you can watch extra 'Sniper X' videos and webinars to continue yourlearning.

For complete beginners, this ebook will serve it's purpose. George Brown has purposely kept thestrategies as simple as he possibly could.

There's no Pay Per Click, Name Capture, Social Media accounts, Joint Ventures, Article marketing,Forum commenting etc., it's all very basic but, apparently works very well for those who bother tofollow the ebook and do what it says.

There is video, though, so you might want to learn how to make a short video to upload to YouTube.

GS2 takes you through finding a profitable niche (opportunity) which is finding a market and some keywords to use on your blog. However, it's how you use these keywords that make your site profitable inyour chosen niche market. GS2 helps you build your site from scratch right to the content you need toadd. 'Presell copy' is the order of the day.

9

Page 10: Internet Marketing Bugle - Volume 14: Issue 87

Optimising your site, the timing of each post (just around three posts will be fine), LSI keywords, getting ranked, becoming an authority site (if you want to) and earning up to $10,000 per month are allcovered throughout the 104 page manual.

You are advised to go online to watch the video every so often, just to make things perfectly clear.

I have uploaded a Google Sniper 2.0 Site and will report on the forum about just how it's going but, tobe honest, the whole system seems to be far too simple. George recommends using about threekeywords, three article posts to your blog, a couple of plugins including the 'All in one SEO' plugin thatwe're probably all using anyway. There is something that you need to do with All in one SEO pluginthat George doesn't do in order to improve your rankings but I won't go into that here.

I do believe that you have to do a lot more than is shown on the videos and throughout the manual inorder to promote your blog or website to make it successful but it's a good start and will put you on theright lines.

Now, this is where I think George Brown is on to a winner because, once you join the monthlypayment option, you get extra videos from his best friend who IS making bigger money from his GS2blogs. He earns over $12,000 per month from using the Sniper system.

The Sniper X videos tell you things like list-building, ah, that's more like it as, unless you build a list toform a relationship with your potential customer, you're not going to earn the money that's promisedby most of the 'opportunities' that hit your inbox each day.

Nothing wrong with charging $47.00 per month to learn this stuff if you're going to use it. Well done,George Brown, I say. By joining his monthly course you'll learn the more advanced techniques andstrategies of earning money using the Internet as a marketing tool and that is what is missing from theebook. Although George repeats that you really don't need to promote using the aforementionedmethods, to earn the bigger cash, you certainly do. This is what George offers when you go furtherand stay with him.

At the time of writing this review only two videos have been posted into the 'Sniper X' section wherethe list-building video really hits the target and makes the whole concept worthwhile.

Google Sniper 2.0 is $47.00 one-time payment with monthly option to learn more.

There is no BS, it's straightforward, easy to follow, especially with the online videos (which you canalso download, by the way) and perfect for complete beginners and those who want to take thingsfurther.

Does it work? I'm personally about to find out but others obviously have made it work with 52 peopleretiring from their daytime jobs after working with GS1 previously.

You will do no wrong to purchase this, it's honest, simple to do and, who knows, you could have yourfirst decent income with your very own GS2 sites up and running in just a few hours.

O2 launches branded livemusic Youtube channel

O2 has launched a YouTube channel, O2Academy TV, to focus on live music hosted atits various branded venues.

The free-to-access channel will host gighighlights, band interviews and backstagefeatures to a wider audience.

O2 sponsors venues in London, Glasgow andManchester, among other cities.

Marketing activity to support the launch includessearch and video ads through Google andYouTube, and a dedicated Facebook page.

O2 is also encouraging fans to record and uploadcontent from concerts, and will host new filmsmade from the films taken by fans at gigs, tocreate new content that is overlaid with high-quality audio from the concert.

Jasmine Skee, head of music sponsorship for O2,said the channel was a massive area of growth, and would bring music fans close to the O2 brand.

She said: "This is on the back of a five-year dealwith Academy's venues to create up to 15 O2-branded venues."

Skee said the concept was to engage with gig-goers online before, during and after the event, butalso to extend the experience to those at home, including streamed performances.

O2 has already filmed backstage interviews withJason Derulo, Thin Lizzy, KT Tunstall, Europe, andExample, and further content will include videodiaries.

Venues will also have "shoutout booths" installed, which fans can use to record messages to artistsand give feedback on gigs.

Skee said: "O2 Academy TV celebrates the rawaspect of live music in our venues, giving fans aunique opportunity to get closer to the artists theylove, and giving artists a creative platform topromote their shows."

O2 revamped its ad strategy earlier this year tofeature a Narnia-inspired fantasy world, with thestrapline "We are always thinking about you".

Orange and O2 will launch mobile paymentssystems later this year.

As you will know, Google has changed it’s rules by clamping down on those that don’t use original

content on their blogs and websites or those that use ‘content farms’ to gain content for their sites.

I must admit, I have used the ‘auto’ posting software that is available but not to cheat on Google,

rather, speed things up for me … I’m very busy and haven’t always got time to spend on every website

that I own when it needs updating.

I have software that takes a sentence (or as much as you like) from various articles found on websites

around the Internet based on your niche keywords, and can form complete articles in just a couple of

minutes. I also use Wordpress plugins that grab content that is appropriate and then post it at preset

times to certain blogs. All this will now have to stop I suppose.

What Google is trying to achieve are relevant results for the people searching for something and not

find themselves on one of my thin affiliate blogs just trying to get their cash.

When I analyse it, it’s much easier in the long run to actually write the articles yourself and then the

keywords form naturally and the whole thing sounds a lot better.

eZineArticles.com suffered a huge blow as they have accepted articles that are not necessarily unique

or they are just out and out sales letters. To get their rankings back to a high position through Google,

they will now have to change their rules of acceptance, too. From now on it looks as though we will all

have to work hard, put effort in, spend money, focus and give it plenty of time … oh, just like a real

business, then.

It’ll be a good thing for most marketers as they do sell and feature genuinely useful content but, of

course, those out to make instant cash will now find it not so instant or indeed, non existent.

Marketing Bugle also market a magazine franchise business in the UK and attending a franchise

show in London recently, really opened by eyes to something that those who do ‘Internet only’

promotions miss out on. They miss out on being face to face with their target audience. The company

involved gained over 100 hot new leads in a matter of around two hours by simply talking to people

explaining exactly what was on offer. The instant relationship between potential customer and the

sales person was incredible to see. After I relied on email and traffic building for so many years, I’d

forgotten that when the customer sees you in person and can speak with you, that’s the most

important thing.

It’s what we try to do using Internet marketing, of course, it takes time, money and effort and you just

don’t know the quality of your subscriber list until a person buys. Actually meeting with them in

person is the answer. You can see if they are qualified to apply for your offer and you get to know them

almost instantly. There’s still a lot to be gained in offline marketing, quite clearly.

Diary OfA HomeBusinessLoser?

“… we will all have to workhard, put effort in, spendmoney, focus and give itplenty of time … oh, just likea real business, then.”

Clickbank Goliath is a Wordpress plugin that enables you to sell Clickbank products right fromyour site.

Of course, you can already do this but using this plugin should give you much better results due to theway the plugin allows you to present your ‘offers’.

By scheduling your posts to appear over time, you also make the sales pages appear natural andtherefore appear higher on search engine results pages.

By typing in your keywords (and any negative keywords), categories to feature, your Clickbankpreferred category, sub category and ID, you can pretty well run your campaigns on auto pilot.

The plugin grabs wording from the merchant’s sales site and features them on your site with a large‘Order Now’ button at the end of the paragraph (or as much text as you choose).

It may be worth you writing in your own words now that Google checks for original content, however, none of my sites are ranking any lower yet.

The results from setting this up do give a good display and certainly look better than ordinary Clickbankdisplays or just boring looking affiliate links. I’d also recommend that you cloak your links to stoppeople changing them to theirs. Also, again, Google dislikes affiliate links all over your site so, doublethe reason to disguise them. There are plugins that can do this for you, of course.

I don’t think that this plugin is worth the $97.00 they are charging for it but it is pretty cool and is adifferent way of earning CB affiliate commissions. Not totally proven at this end but a great effort. You can, however, use it on unlimited domains.
