It was another momentous milestone for Leeden National Oxygen Ltd as the second Leeden Store was inaugurated on 28 April 2016. The joyous occasion held at Leeden Hercules Sdn Bhd, Penang, Malaysia, saw more than 500 guests attending, with various guests-of-honour represented from Singapore, Japan and Malaysia.

The latest addition to the Leeden Store retail chain is set in the ground floor of the Leeden Hercules Headquarters, Penang and features 10,000 sq. feet of floor space. The retail store comprises an extensive range of Leeden NOX’s best-selling welding products and safety equipment.

The atmosphere of jubilance and fête was abundant and physicalised by the presence of the auspicious lion dance event, the ribbon cutting ceremony and the release of balloons.

As the ‘Leeden Store Logo’ embellished balloons floated gently into the sky, it symbolised the hopes and aspirations the staff and public had for this new store, a new start backed by a solid foundation of quality products and impeccable service.

Through the day, there was also a multitude of promotions and special discounts offered for the guest and customers. The invitees were delighted by cash and carry promotions, big sales offerings, lucky draws and a live demonstration of DeWalts products.

The opening of the second Leeden Store is a testament to the success of this fast growing business segment. Here at The Leeden Store, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to celebrate this happy occasion with us and we will make every effort to serve you better.

RETAIL PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT

Leeden NOX Gas Division’s Underground Piping Reinstatement Works with LTA

The project commenced on 2 June 2016 on the LTA North South Highway Construction and required Leeden NOX to construct an underground N2 pipeline diversion, with total pipeline distance affected at approximately 250m. This significant assignment involved various engineers, sales consultants, store and logistic personnel working seamlessly together to perform various tasks including piping work, purging, cleaning, pigging and certification. Back-up liquid also had to be supplied to our affected pipeline customers in the Woodlands industrial area.

While the engineering division was well prepared and fully qualified to take on this construction project, the store and logistic division provided the utmost support through proper resource planning of manpower, inventory management, fleet allocation, ensuring round the clock supply without disruption as well as thorough risk management analysis complete with a detailed contingency plan. Through the expertise and effort of the staff, the reinstatement works were completed on 29 June 2016. The project was accomplished well within the 1 month deadline set by the LTA, even though projects of this scale required a longer period of time.

Leeden NOX would like to thank all staff who worked conscientiously and resolutely on this project to ensure its success. With this experience under our belt, Leeden NOX will continue to develop the talents and resources of our gas division so as to serve our customers and partners with further distinction and excellence.

GAS CASE STUDY

On 22 May 2015, Leeden National Oxygen was awarded the reinstatement works for Nitrogen and Piping by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). This project is one of the many projects that demonstrates the quality works and services the company has provided the public and private industries in Singapore and the region, through the years.

Background and Diagnosis

The School of Design has previously occupied an open ventilated workshop but has since been relocated to an indoor closed workshop in Block 34. The new air-conditioned workshop requires higher capture efficiency of the wood dust generated by the cutting and finishing of wood.

Prescription and Treatment

One unit of FMKZ 4E is designed to extract dust from 19 points with simultaneous factor of 40%. The system is controlled with manual slide valves and fan frequency inverter for energy saving. Some of the points are connected directly to the machine manifold for ease of operation.

The ATEX unit is located outdoor with an explosion relief panel and deflector. Discharge is by ATEX rotary valves into collection bins. The unit is installed on top of a plinth outside the building, as this location was a slope and needs to be levered.

Results and Comments

NP is very satisfied with the system as it exceeds their performance expectations. The workshop is now much cleaner and easier to maintain, the safety of the students has also been greatly improved.

It was another successful year at the annual MetalTech 2016 in Putra World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. From 25-28 May 2016, Leeden National Oxygen Ltd was represented by its subsidiary Leeden NOX (Welding & Safety Division) as well as Leeden Powerweld Sdn Bhd in two booth features at the exhibition.

From Leeden NOX (Welding & Safety Division), sales staff from Leeden NOX, Leeden Sdn Bhd and Hercules Sdn Bhd, showcased the silent, efficient and tough Diesel Engine Driven Welding Equipment from Shindaiwa. As for Leeden Powerweld Sdn Bhd, the exhibitors featured some of the best-selling filler metals that were manufactured and sold at their 3 factories in Malacca. The event was a sweet accomplishment for both subsidiaries as they manage to solicit more than 100 interested customers.

The annual Leeden Store Warehouse Sale this year featured over 100 different products from Personal Protection to Tools & Accessories, with discounts of up to 80% and even a lucky draw of 10 winners. Of all the products, the Red Wing Safety Shoes was definitely the crowd pleaser as the safety shoes section was never empty of patrons. Of all Red Wing Safety Shoe models, Red Wing 3286 was without a doubt, the hot seller. Within the first two days, this popular model was sold out.

The warehouse sale was positively the highlight event of The Leeden Store. We managed to serve more than 1,300 customers. There was also a significant buzz generated on the store’s Facebook page as followers and page likes were tripled. We would like to thank all customers that have made this Warehouse Sale a roaring success.
