BiographyJulia Stone was born and raised in Southern California. After receiving her degree at the University of California at Santa Barbara, Stone left California for New York to begin her career in fashion. Upon moving to New York, Stone was offered a prestigious internship at Saks Fifth Avenue in the New York flagship store. Stone was repeatedly promoted during her 5 years at Saks Fifth Avenue. In 1999 she became one of the youngest Couture Managers in the company’s history.

Stone left Saks to work for acclaimed designer Vera Wang . While there she worked closely with Wang and the design team to launch Vera Wang’s highly praised Ready-to-Wear collection. During her tenure Vera Wang won the prestigious CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award, Stone left Vera Wang for a new range of responsibilities launching a collection with REDUX Charles Chang-Lima. As Vice-President and Director of Sales, Merchandising & Marketing she was able to combine her passion for the retail and wholesale sides of the Designer Ready-to-Wear business. Together Chang-Lima and Stone launched a new Designer Eveningwear collection, REDUX Charles Chang-Lima.

Stone then worked with Chang-Lima to launch his third collection, MONIK Charles Chang-Lima. A new concept collection of Ready-to-Wear that targeted clients sized 12 – 20. The collection met wide acclaim and an exclusive editorial launch with “O Magazine.”

Stone embarked on a new adventure as a consultant for emerging American Designers with JLS Consulting. Her Client roster includes Gustavo Cadile, Nieves Lavi. Showroom Seven and 5 on 7 . This role enabled her to use her diverse background in Merchandising, Marketing and Sales to grow and develop new American design talent.

Stone has been an active participant in various organization and charities throughout her career. She has worked closely with Helpline, a crisis hotline and Chang-Lima’s Angel’s of Hope charity which focuses on fundraising for women’s cancers. She is affiliated with The Laboratory of Merchandising in New York, working for years with their internship program, guest lecturing in the classroom and as a host for their field trip courses.
