Camp Veritas Did you know that St. Charles has our own unique camp for high school students, including incoming 9th graders? This camp/retreat takes place at

beautiful Broomtree Retreat Center in South Dakota and will be from Sunday, July 21 to Thursday, July 25. The week includes: Daily Mass, Adoration, talks, and small groups. There is also tons of time for recreation including: swimming, canoeing, bonfires, capture the flag, and more! Students continually say that it’s one of their favorite weeks of the year. The cost of the camp is $200, but full or

partial scholarships are available. To sign up, head to www.stchb.org/youth.

Books and CDs! In par tnership with the Augustine Institute and FORMED.org, we have set up a kiosk of wonderful material in the Atrium that you can use to bolster and spread your faith. There is a suggested donation for the material so we can continue to keep it stocked with new books, CD's and booklets for the sake of evangelization. However, if you can't afford to make the full donation, please feel free to make a partial donation if possible. All of the material in the kiosk is yours to keep or give to friends or family who could use it. If there are topics you would like to see stocked or if you have questions, please contact Jacob Nelson, 612-787-1181 or [email protected].

Attention families: If you have used the new book bags in the atrium for your young children, please be aware that a number of the books of been removed. Some have been replaced with older books but we are still missing several, included the originals that were replaced with those older books. If you happen to find them mixed in with your other books at home or in the car please return them. Thank you.

CHURCH OF ST. CHARLES BORROMEO ST. ANTHONY, MN

From the Pastor’s Desk

Thank you Totus Tuus Team! We had a good turnout for our Totus Tuus program last week. It’s great to see and hear the kids around the parish during the week. The team said that our parish was one of their best so far. I am proud of our good kids who are a reflection of the wonderful families we have in our parish. Please join me in thanking the team by praying for them and the parishes they will serve the rest of the summer. “Totus Tuus” is Latin for “Totally Yours” and it comes from Pope St. John Paul II’s papal motto. It references his Marian devotion. At a young age, his mother died and he told Mary that she needed to be his mother now. He consecrated himself to Jesus through Mary and lived a life of beautiful devotion to our Blessed Mother as his mother. He relied on her maternal care, protection and encouragement. He wrote in his book, Gift and Mystery, “I was already convinced that Mary leads us to Christ, but at that time I began to realize also that Christ leads us to His Mother.” From this understanding, he took as his motto, Totus Tuus. The more we grow in our devotion to Mary, the more she will help us grow in our devotion to God. I encourage all individuals and families to consecrate themselves and their families to Jesus through Mary. The Feast of the Assumption is coming up on August 15- a wonderful feast to consecrate yourself and/or your family! We have resources to help you do this. On formed.org and

on our new Lighthouse Catholic Media stand is a book called 33 Days to Morning Glory. This book prepares us for the consecration. For 33 days we say some prayers and read from saints like Pope St John Paul II, St. Theresa of Calcutta, St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Louis De Montfort. All of these great saints had consecrated themselves to Jesus through Mary and promoted this devotion as a sure path to Jesus and a way of entrusting ourselves and our families to the motherly protection of Mary. The preparation for the consecration on the Solemnity of the Assumption began on July 13th. If you are reading this a couple of days later, no worries, it’s ok to miss a couple of days. If you do this, I guarantee that you will see a deepening in your faith. Mary will help strengthen yours and our family’s faith so that you too will be able to take as your motto, Totus Tuus. God bless, Fr. Przybilla

Stewardship

On June 1, the areas on both sides of the South Atrium entrance underwent a dramatic change – our Knights of Columbus and many volunteers removed dying shrubs and relocated a whole lot of hasta plants. Besides the time planning the project, this was the first step towards refreshing the landscaping near this entrance. Our goal is to provide a beautiful, peaceful setting that requires low maintenance for our staff. Over the next 60 days, we anticipate completing the landscaping project without disrupting use of this entrance. The Memorial to the Unborn will be relocated to a temporary spot nearby and then placed near its current location – with a peaceful, prayerful area surrounding it. Some concrete sidewalk improvements will be made at this entrance with minimal interruptions to using the entrance anticipated. Did you notice the relocation and sprucing up of our parking area signage? Thank you to Dennis Marshik for giving his time, talent, and treasure to help beautify our campus. The collection for Little Sisters of the Poor of St. Paul raised almost $5,100 – thank you! Your generosity helps continue their mission of the past 127 years in our community, “To offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to Himself.”

more fun for everyone! (It is not necessary to host to participate.) The next dinner is Saturday, July 27. Sign up to be a host or a guest by July 15! Archdiocesan Synod. This Pentecost (June 8-9, 2019), the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis began a Synod pro-cess. The goal of the Archdiocesan Synod is to help Archbishop Hebda discern, through a consultative process, the pastoral pri-orities of our local Church today – and into the near future. Your participation, as the Catholic faithful, is key to a success-ful Synod. You are invited to participate by offering your pray-ers, pastoral concerns, and ideas for moving this Archdiocese forward. Learn more about the Synod and see a listing of Prayer and Listening events scheduled for fall 2019 – winter 2020 at archspm.org/synod.
