NEW in 2012...

SignHave you noticed? The new sign went up in early April to welcome visitors and passers-bys. It will help people find us better mak-ing it easier to find your information! We have received a lot of great feedback from folks who have stopped in the Information Center. Thanks to all of the members of the Chamber and community that stopped by for our ribbon cutting! We had nearly 50 guests on Tuesday, May 22nd.

Quiet Resorts VideoIn early 2012 the Chamber worked with Southern Delaware Tourism and an acad-emy award winning cinematographer to create a 30- and 60-second commercial highlighting the Quiet Resorts Area. This piece will be played in the Information Center daily, used in marketing campaigns to attract new visitors and residents and posted on the home page of www.bethany-fenwick.org for anyone to view.

March BAH: Matt’s Fish Camp

April Membership Meeting: D’Ortone’s Homestyle Italian

May BAH: The Cottage Café

May Connect for Coffee: The Artful Bean

Members were anxiously awaiting the first After Hours at Matt Haley’s latest restau-rant. On Wednesday, March 28 Matt’s Fish Camp maxed out with 65 members and a few prospects in attendance! What a great way to kick off the spring network-ing season. Members were able to sample some tasty menu items while learning more about spotlighted members: Barker Phys-iotherapy Associates, M & M Computer Services, LLC and Made Ya Look! Salon & Spa. Special thanks to Jim and the en-

tire staff for hosting this wonderful networking event. And another big thank you to the members that donated all the excellent door prizes that evening: Alterations & Crafts by Barbara, Barker Physiotherapy Associates, Bethany Florist, Delaware Wave, M & M Computer Services, LLC, Made Ya Look! Salon & Spa and Mind, Body & Sole.

The more the merrier was the theme at the Cottage Café on Wednesday, April 25. More than 100 chamber members gathered at the Cottage Café for the April Business After Hours. The room was filled with two hours of quality networking, if the volume of the crowd was any indicator. Members in attendance were able to learn more about the ser-vices of spotlighted members: M & M Computer Services, LLC, Mercantile Processing Inc. and Southern Sussex Rotary. A huge thank you to Tom, Brent, and the entire staff at the Cottage for welcoming our enthusiastic networkers. And another thank you to all of our members who generously donated door prizes that evening: Alterations & Crafts by Barbara, Bethany Florists, Bookend Café, Clare’s Scrapbook Cove/Lavender & Lace Antiques & Gifts, D’Ortone’s Homestyle Italian Restaurant & Tap, M & M Computer Services, LLC, Mercantile Processing Inc. and Southern Sussex Rotary.

How were you enjoying downtown Bethany Beach before the summer season hit? Well more than 30 members visited downtown Bethany on Thursday, May 3 at the Artful Bean. Members stopped by The Artful Bean and networked without fear of an expiring meter. It was great to see so many local business owners from downtown Bethany Beach pop in and connect while enjoying a cup of delicious coffee courtesy of Kim! A very big thank you to Kim for hosting us this month!

UPCOMING EVENTS

It wasn’t just the warm weather that made it feel like the summer season came early. The area was packed with guests visiting during school breaks and for mini-getaways. The April Membership Meeting was perfectly timed. Linda Parkowski, director of Dela-ware State Tourism Office, joined more than 50 members at D’Ortone’s Restaurant in Ocean View to discuss how tourism im-pacts our entire area. From simple initia-tives such as tweaking the Delaware state road map to include things to do in Dela-ware, to attracting more sporting events to

each county, the meeting was well received by all in attendance. Special thanks to Nick and the staff at D’Ortone’s for opening early and serving a delicious meal.
