Justice Immersion Trip

Trip Description: This immersion trip is an opportunity to visit a local and urban community in desperate need. After an orientation to the community and to the Franciscan values of loving and serving the poor with dignity and respect, students will practice solidarity with guests of St. Anthony’s Foundation, waiting in line with them to share food and conversation in the Dining Room. Staff will lead the group in re-flections on the broader causes of poverty and homelessness. The delegation will get a chance to see the contrasting commerce and social atmosphere of the Tenderloin and Un-ion Square. Delegates will meet with city planners to discuss city policy regarding homelessness in San Francisco, and with staff of other non-profits serving the homeless.
