The Perfect CombinationTrucking professionals across the breadth of our product line choose to build their businesses withKenworth trucks. Costco relies on the dependability of its Kenworth T800s to “feed warehouses with just-in-time deliveries.” Owner-operator Myron McLarnanowns a T600 because “fuel mileage is the most criticalfactor” to his success. Frank B. Fuhrer WholesaleCompany purchases Kenworths for “fleet reliability andlong-term durability.”

Preferred Transport & Distribution specs KenworthW900s for driver comfort and resale value. ForTransport Gregoire, the T2000 is a symbol of prideemblazoned on its company business cards, calendarsand website. Before purchasing new equipment, W&Aexecutives simply ask drivers which truck they prefer.“Across the board, drivers prefer Kenworth.”

There’s one thing all these customers agree on:Kenworth is more than a truck company; it’s a strongbusiness partner before, during and after the sale. Infact, J.D. Power and Associates gave Kenworth five“highest ranking” awards for customer satisfaction in2005 (p. 4).

Our latest model introductions — with industry-leadingtechnological innovations in aerodynamics and fueleconomy (p. 8) — further demonstrate that we’re listen-ing to customers and responding with products theyneed to help their businesses succeed.

Perhaps Chuck LeFebvre, LeFebvre Companies, says itbest, that between Kenworth’s great product support,

uncompromising service andquality trucks, “it all makes theperfect combination.”

Costco is the nation’s leading club warehouse chain with471 warehouses generating $52 billion in annual sales. To help keep retail shelves filled, Costco relies onPacLease and Kenworth T800s to feed warehouses withjust-in-time deliveries originating from strategically locat-ed depots around the U.S.

Six company fleets with 290 leased trucks and1,400 trailers serve 183 warehouse locationswithin a 100-mile radius of the depots.Warehouses farther removed are serviced bycontract carriers.

In 2004, when two of the company’s fleet leases weredue to expire, Costco put the leasing contracts out tobid.

“PacLease came in with a very good bid process,” saysSarah Mogk, Assistant Vice President of Depots andTraffic. “They did what they needed to do to understandour business and needs. Fuel mileage was a major con-sideration and they did a great job spec’ing the righttrucks for us.”

Costco fleet managers in Californiaworked with PacLease andKenworth to fit T800s withCaterpillar C15 435 hp engines,Eaton transmissions and Spiceraxles.

When the new trucks started rollinginto Costco’s Mira Loma, Calif.,depot, Mogk went there to talk tothe drivers. “I have to tell you, I wasa popular gal that day,” Mogk says.“When our drivers got into thoseKenworths, they were really happywith the extra room and great visi-bility.”

As PacLease proved successful forthe retailer, more leases soon fol-lowed, including the West Palm

Beach, Fla. and Sumner, Wash. depots. “PacLease andKenworth went through each spec, line by line, andexplained every nuance to our fleet managers,” saysMogk. “They discussed topography, climate, everything. It’s been a fantastic partnership.”

In 2006, Costco’s fleets will log 29 million miles anddeliver 245,000 loads. With five of the six Costco fleetsnow operating Kenworth trucks, Mogk says the overallfleet has seen a 3.5% increase in miles per gallon.

“As a just-in-time delivery company, dependability ofequipment is critical,” says Mogk. “Under PacLease’sfull-service lease agreement, they handle 100% of ourmaintenance, so we can concentrate on shipping andreceiving.”

When Costco’s newest depot in Phoenix, Ariz. openedlast December, the manager there commented to Mogkthat the local PacLease franchise was already dialed inbefore the first tractor arrived in the yard. “He told mewe couldn’t have picked a better partner,” says Mogk.

Kenworth PremierCare

When a company is responsible for 342 tractors and morethan 1,200 trailers but doesn’t have its own maintenancefacility, how does it handle truck maintenance? If you’reAmerican Central Transport (ACT), you choose MHCKenworth and the Kenworth PremierCare® PreventiveMaintenance Program and roadside assistance services.

Since 2002, MHC Kenworth has managed ACT’s mainte-nance program for tractors and trailers that operate pri-marily in the Midwest. A majority of the preventive main-tenance is performed at MHC Kenworth locations inMissouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

Liberty, Mo.-based ACT hauls mostly dry freight, such astires and paper products, for a variety of shippers in theMidwest and Ohio Valley. ACT’s fleet consists ofKenworth T600s, W900s and a couple of T2000s, withanother 38 T600s on order.

David Warner, vice president of fleet services, says ACTgains several benefits from the Kenworth PremierCarePreventive Maintenance program. “We have negotiatedrates, so we know what our costs will be and are able tobudget more accurately. We get centralized monthlybilling, which our accountant loves. And compared withother programs out there, we get much more for ourmoney with Kenworth.”

Warner also says Kenworth’s maintenance services aremore thorough than what’s available at many other main-tenance facilities. “We get detailed inspections every timewe are scheduled for a PM, which pays off in well-main-tained trucks that bring in a higher dollar when we sell.”

Transport Gregoire’s hallmark tractor-trailer – a whiteT2000 and matching dry van, both emblazoned withblue lettering – appears on business cards, calendars andits website. Even the labels on gift bottles of maple syrupthat they hand out feature the T2000.

“It’s everywhere,” says Steve Donovan, vice president ofoperations. “Our customers know us by our KenworthT2000s, and we get compliments all of the time.”

Bertrand Gregoire, company president, began buildingthis image in 1998, when he purchased his first twoKenworth T2000s. He’s been adding trucks at an impres-sive clip ever since, expanding his fleet from about 75trucks in 1999 to 340 today.

Donovan says his boss likes the T2000 for a number ofreasons: “The aerodynamics, interior space, visibility, reli-ability, the overall construction – these are all importantto us,” he says. “The drivers really like them, too, andthat’s just as important.”

Driver satisfaction is helpful in every trucking operation, but it’s crucial to one growing as quickly as TransportGregoire. Donovan says the T2000 has been instrumentalin keeping the company’s driver turnover below 5 percent,an astounding achievement for any long-haul carrier.

North American Long HaulsThe prominent trucks of Transport Gregoire carry paper, aluminum, furniture, appliances and other goods acrossNorth America. Each travels about 2,700 miles per week.

Gregoire specs his trucks for maximum longevity andcapacity, comfort and efficiency. He relies on KenworthQuebec to help find the right mix of components andfeatures. At present, the usual orderincludes a Cat C13engine (rated at470 horsepower), 75-inch Aerodyne® sleeper with theDiamond interior package, satellite radio and MichelinX-One drive tires. This combination appeals to thedrivers, delivers an impressive fleet fuel-economy averageof 8 mpg, and yields top value after four years, thecompany’s normal trade cycle.

It’s unlikely that Transport Gregoire’s demand for T2000swill abate anytime soon. “Our intention is to keep grow-ing,” Donovan says. “We have another 20trucks coming, and we might take a few morelater in the year, depending on the economy.”

Last fall, the company took over the operations of a for-mer competitor in Drummondville, Quebec. Donovanand Gregoire met with the employees shortly after thetransition to introduce themselves and field questions.Donovan recalls the first question, “Will we get to driveKenworth T2000s?”

Myron McLarnan feels he has an edge over other owner-operators. “I finally got out of the notion that I had todrive a big hood and decided I needed to put more moneyin my pocket,” he says. “When I purchased my first T600in 1995, my fuel mileage went from 5.8 to 7.2 miles pergallon. Back then, at $1.15 a gallon, I saved $3,800 thefirst year. Today, fuel prices are double that, so you cansee how the T600 adds to my bottom line.”

Operating out of Yakima, Wash., McLarnan hauls applesto Los Angeles, returning each week to Seattle withCalifornia produce. Driving up and down the West Coast

as an independent owner-operator for the past 26 years,McLarnan purchased his first Kenworth truck in 1985,and has owned mostly Kenworths ever since. (He triedanother truck briefly, but wentback to Kenworth for betterfuel economy.) Currently heowns a 2006 Kenworth T600with 72-inch AeroCab®

Aerodyne® sleeper andCaterpillar C15 475-hp engine.

The Fuel Factor“Fuel has gone from being a frac-tion of my costs to 40-45 percentof my costs,” says McLarnan.“Fuel mileage is the most criticalfactor to my success, and that’swhere my truck really makes adifference.”

To punctuate his point,McLarnan points to theaerodynamic engineer-ing of his T600 with roofand chassis fairings, aerodynamically shapedhood, and curved wind-

shield and mirror. All this engineered efficiency is madeeven better with great maneuverability and visibility intight places, a comfortable interior and smooth ride.

“Comfort is key if you are on the road any amount oftime,” says McLarnan, who has always appreciated thelittle extras that come with owning a Kenworth truck.“Last summer, I bought my new T600 just before thenew interiors came out. My interior is great, but there areseveral improvements that make me wish I had waited acouple months, but I was anxious.”

The newest Kenworth T600s include sophisticated interiorstyling, technology and ergonomics, plus 25 new standardfeatures, many of which were previously options.

“Kenworth is the best overall value,”says McLarnan. “And at trade-in time, the market has really come around tothe aerodynamic truck.”

With today’s fuel prices, choosing afuel efficient truck makes perfect business sense.Dependable and economical, McLarnan says, “MyKenworth gives me an edge.”

Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale Company fleet manager,Robert Shaw, likens Kenworth trucks to his Super BowlXL Champion Pittsburgh Steelers: tough, durable andreliable. “The World’s Best,” he proclaims.

When Mr. Fuhrer purchased the company in 1982, it wasa small beer distributor. Later he expanded operations byacquiring additional beer brands such as Coors,Yuengling, Corona and other imports to complement thecompany’s original brand, Anheuser-Busch. By providingconsistent and dependable on-time deliveries, the busi-

ness has grown into one of the largest beerdistributors in the U.S., a $170 million com-

pany selling 13.5 million cases with 250 employees and62 trucks serving 11 counties in Western Pennsylvania.

“Mr. Fuhrer wanted to purchase the best trucks thatwould reflect the high quality image of our growing com-pany,” says Shaw. “We bought Kenworths, and we’vebeen buying Kenworths ever since.”

The Long RunMost critical tothe company’ssuccess has beenlong-term fleetdurability. As theolder trucks nownear retirement,Morgan andShaw are busyspec’ing and pur-chasing newT300s, as well assome T800s. “Forreliability, afford-ability, anddependability, they just can’t be

beat,” says Mike Morgan, vice president of operations.“Our drivers love the trucks for the comfort, creature fea-tures and good visibility with the DayLite® doors and cor-ner windows. They’re really excited about the new T300s.

“Because we put very little mileage on our trucks annual-ly, we keep them a long time. We’ve never had any relia-bility issues with them at all. That’s a big credit to RobertShaw and his crew, and also to Kenworth.”

According to Shaw, reliability and ease of maintenancego hand in hand. “That’s how you know you’re workingwith a good quality truck. We run Kenworths that wepurchased in 1990 and they’re still running great today.Operating trucks that are in their 16th year of service andhaving no cab or floor problems, that’s hard to beat.”

Fuhrer’s wholesaledistribution busi-ness is all about

providing on-time service to customers, day in and day out.If tractors break down, customers cannot be served. “Wedon’t have breakdowns with these trucks and that’s atremendous asset to us,” says Morgan. “We’ve had greatsuccess with Kenworth and our dealer partner, Kenworth ofPennsylvania. Kenworth is the most prestigious truck onthe road and represents the top-of-the-line image thatMr. Fuhrer built for his company throughout the commu-nities we serve.”

Over the past 25 years, PreferredTransport & Distribution, Inc. presi-dent Ron Pavuk has taken a hardlook at just about every truck on themarket. “When you take everythinginto consideration — performance, reliability, driver comfort, resale value— no other manufacturer even comesclose to Kenworth.”

Pavuk, who founded PreferredTransport in 1980, at first ran onlyused equipment. He believed that hecould save money while investing theproceeds into customer support and driver retention.Instead, customers and drivers turned to other carriersdue to equipment breakdowns. That’s when Pavuk decid-ed that was enough of old trucks.

Change in Philosophy“When we first started buying new equipment, I thoughtthere was no way we could afford to do this,” saysPavuk, who relied on PACCAR Financial for support.“Once we got started, I realized there was no way we

could afford not to do it. We should havebeen doing this all along.”

The new Kenworth W900s with 72-in.AeroCab® sleepers quickly injected confidence in cus-tomers and drivers alike. Business has grown more than10 percent each year for the past 10 years. In 2005, withrevenues exceeding $15 million, Preferred’s fleet expand-ed by 12 trucks, with 30 additional Kenworths on orderfor 2006.

“We appreciate the growth, but we don’t believe thatbigger is necessarily better,” says Pavuk. “Our philosophyis, we take excellent care of the customers we have, andwe try to grow in a very controlled manner. Kenworthhelps us do that.”

Working with MHC Kenworth - Atlanta, PreferredTransport settled on a trade-in cycle of three years, or450,000 miles. Maintenance costs are minimal anddependability is at an all-time high.

“When we changed the way we did business, everythingimproved,” says Pavuk. “Now, because we buy only thebest equipment, the most reliable trucks available, we’reable to recruit terrific drivers, and we keep our customershappy with extremely reliable service.”

With a fleet of 70 trucks, mostly Kenworth W900s withCummins engines and 10-speed Eaton transmissions, thecompany employs 120 people, including 70 full-time drivers.

“We spec for driver comfort and resale value,” saysPavuk. “All our drivers want the new interiors. It feelsmore personal, so drivers take more pride in the equip-ment. As a result, they take better care of the truck.

“Kenworth enhances the image of this company in manyways, but in terms of driver recruitment and retention, allwe have to do is park our trucks out front. Rarely do wehave to run ads in the paper because of the walk-in traffic.”

Since Pavuk started buying new trucks, PreferredTransport has experienced sharp increases in produc-tivity, efficiency, company image and driver retention.“Kenworth has helped us grow,” he says. “For overallvalue, we feel no other truck can compare.”

Bendix® ABS-6 Advanced with ESP®:A Brake-Through Innovation in Electronic Stability

Bendix® ABS-6 Advanced with ESP®:A Brake-Through Innovation in Electronic Stability

A full electronic stability program with innovative jackknife and rolloverprotection is available on selected Kenworth Class 8 platforms.

Using familiar air-based North American braking systems, Bendix®

ABS-6 Advanced with ESP® stability functionality provides core antilockbraking, along with Bendix® Smart ATC™ and ESP, the most effective ABS-based traction control and stability systems on the market today.

Safety is the bottom line. For fleets looking to reduce incident potential and improve profitability,Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP stability system offers the competitive edge:

Profitability – Every dollar saved through incident reduction goesdirectly to the bottom line. For fleets operating on a 5 percent margin, reducing accident costs by $100,000 is equal to growing top-line sales by $2 million.Customer Satisfaction – An accident can result in a late deliv-ery or even damage to your customer’s property, which can build illwill and loss of confidence.Driver Training – Drivers don’t often realize their tractor-traileris tipping until it’s too late. ESP functionality can not only help miti-gate these events, it can serve as a proactive training tool.Operational Efficiency – The reliability of genuine Bendix components, the familiarity of an ABS-based system, along with aportfolio of easy-to-use diagnostic tools means less training andmore time on the road.Driver Retention

What is Bendix ESP, and how does it work?Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP is the only ABS-based truck stabilitysystem capable of recognizing and assisting with both rollover and vehicleunder- and over-steer driving situations plus a variety of road conditions. The ESP system helps to mitigate jackknifes and loss of control byselectively applying tractor and trailer brakes, as well as dethrottling theengine, and it does so faster than a human in most situations.

A group of Wisconsin Kenworth dealers and fleet managers recentlyattended a Bendix ESP demo at a winter test track in Upper Peninsula,Mich., to experience the system’s high performance on extreme slipperysurfaces like packed snow and ice. Here’s what they had to say:

“It far exceeds what I thought it would do. If it saves one accident, it’s cost-effective.”

Rick Reese, Reese Trucking, Neenah, Wis.

“Any vehicle that has a high center of gravity or fleets that are really concernedwith rollovers, particularly ones with new drivers, ought to take a hard look atthis system.”

Tim Johnson, Wisconsin Kenworth, Green Bay, Wis.

“It’s amazing. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The truck is constantlychanging and adjusting to your driving conditions. It would definitely be worth it.”Sean Vistain, Countryside Auto Transport, Menasha, Wis.

Stability is stability, right? It’s a fact – evaluating competitive stability offerings can be confusing. There are several key differences between the stability systems availabletoday, and considering cost alone will not result in the best solution tomeet your return on investment, safety and driver acceptance goals.Bendix has the user-friendly tools available to help you make an intelligentinvestment in stability. Ask us for all the details.

Beyond your fleet’s total incident costs and the factors that contributeto incident frequency, there’s the effectiveness of the system itself. Youneed solid facts, such as the system’s ability to sense an impending event;the decisions it makes based on the information received; the automaticresponses it makes based on those decisions; and the types of stabilitysituations it’s designed to address. In other words, not all stability systemsare created equal.

It’s time for your stability system to be better. It’s time for Bendix.Find out more.Talk to your Bendix Account Manager, call 1-800-AIR-BRAKE (1-800-247-2725) or visit www.bendix.com today.

Executives at W&A Distribution rely heavily on input fromtheir drivers and mechanics, especially when it comestime to purchase new trucks. “Before we buy, we ask ourdrivers what they prefer,” says John Anderson, co-ownerof W&A Distribution Services, Inc., Fort Atkinson, Wis.“Across the board, drivers prefer Kenworth.”

Anderson and partner Steve Wiesmann founded W&A in1990 based on a simple premise: give customers what theywant, and get the best tools to get the job done right.

“Our drivers are our ambassadors,” says Anderson. “In 16years, we have near perfect customer retention, and that’sbecause of our employees and our Kenworth trucks.

“Ours is very time-sensitive delivery. Wehave installation crews waiting, narrowstreets blocked off, elevators reserved. We’re maneuvering in places that typically do not see asemi-tractor and trailer — Pebble Beach, Disney World, office buildings and universities in metropolitan areas. The set-back axle Kenworth T600s and T2000s are theright truck for getting into and out of tight places.”

Niche MarketingSpecializing in transporting highly damageable freight, W&Aoffers customized delivery of sophisticated electronic andmedical equipment, store fixtures, furniture and shelving.

“When we started this compa-ny, our customers withpartial loads

weren’t big enough to demand the kind of service that full-load customers routinely get, namely scheduled deliveries,”says Wiesmann. “Yet they had to coordinate a work crew tomeet the truck just like full-load customers. When we wereable to coordinate deliveries with LTLs, they really appreciat-ed our service and that’s allowed us to keep growing.”

While reliable Kenworth T600s keep customers happy, fuel efficiency helps the bottom line. “In summertime, our fleet average (including some Kenworth T2000s) is7.3 miles per gallon. Some drivers are getting 8 mpg,”says Anderson. W&A’s newest Kenworth T600s (10currently on order) are spec’d with Diamond interiorsand automatic transmissions for even betterfuel economy in stop-and-go traffic.

Last year, with 60 trucks, 150 trailers and

250,000 sq. ft. of managed warehouse, W&A achievedrevenues of $12.5 million, with projected growth to $15million in 2006. The company has come a long way fromthe eight used tractors and 15 used trailers it started within 1990. That’s when the partners realized that highmaintenance costs and drivers sitting by the side of theroad were not good business-building features.

“We put a pencil to the problem and decided to purchasenew trucks,” says Anderson. “We don’t have equipment

problems anymore. We haven’t had a single piece ofequipment put out of service in the past four or

five years. That’s a credit to our drivers, me-chanics and the dependability of

Kenworth trucks.”

Walker County, Ga. Chooses RuggedKenworth T300 Dump TrucksWhen Walker County, Ga., decided to undertake moreof the paving of county roads itself, the county realizedit needed new, rugged dump trucks with greater haulingcapacity that would deliver long-term value. The countyfound the trucks it wanted in the Kenworth T300 medium-duty conventional.

“By spec’ing a tandem-axle Kenworth T300 with dumpcapacity of 20 tons, what we got was the best value forour money over the long term,” says Rodney Parker,Walker County road department supervisor. “Kenworthgave us a fair price, the engine and horsepower we want-ed, and the transmission and gearing we needed.

“We’ve spent next to nothing on these trucks since we’veowned them. They are extremely cost effective when youfactor in the initial price and maintenance costs. Weexpect the Kenworth T300s to last 10 years or more, and I don’t know if our other dump trucks will last thatlong. The T300 fits our department truck motto of‘Work with it, not on it.’ ”

Quarterback Michael Vick is adept atmoving the Atlanta Falcons down thefield for another score. But when itcomes to moving the Falcons off thefield, the team relies on moving com-pany NetMove and its new Kenworth

This past season, Duluth, Ga.-basedNetMove transported approximately12,000 lbs. of football gear, uniforms,

training supplies and video equip-ment to nine preseason and regu-lar season road games for the NFLteam. The schedule included tripsas far away as San Antonio.

NetMove owner John Krysaksays he chose the Kenworth

and the extensive Kenworth dealer net-work along the routes he travels haul-ing the Falcons’ equipment. “We needa truck that’s dependable and that willenable us to get the equipment to thegame on time,” Krysak says. “If wedon’t deliver, there is no game.”

Krysak, who started NetMove in1997, says that although theKenworth T300 is a premium truck,it’s an affordable choice for his high-profile moves. “When you factor inthe cost per mile and excellent resalevalue, the T300 is very economical. There’s no comparison with othertrucks I’ve owned.” NetMove alsooperates a Kenworth T2000 for long-distance moving.

Ferrara Bros. Building Materials Corp.will call on its Kenworth T800 readymix trucks as the sole concrete supplierfor ongoing construction of a thirdwater tunnel for New York City. TheFlushing, New York-based company willprovide more than 130,000 cubic yardsof specialized concrete, the equivalentof 10,000 mixer loads, for this $600million stage of the tunnel project.

Ferrara Bros.’ fleet of mixer trucksincludes 12 Kenworth T800s outfittedwith a Cummins ISL 350-hp engine driventhrough an Allison 6-speed transmission. The trucks are set on four axles includinga steerable, 20,000-lb. drop axle.

“We worked with Kenworth and ourlocal Kenworth dealership, GabrielliKenworth, to spec them to be light, light, light because we want to carryas much payload as possible,” saysBob Gartman, Ferrara Bros. vice pres-ident of fleet maintenance. “Forexample, we carry three batteriesinstead of four, use the smallest fueltank available and pull out the pas-senger seat. As a result, we’re one ofthe few concrete companies that canoperate with a 12 cubic-yard drum. That allows us to deliver up to one-and-a-half cubic yards per load morethan most other operators.”

“We’re also buying Kenworth T800sfor their durability and reliability,”Gartman says. “A steady flow of con-crete is important for this project andwe depend on our trucks to deliver theconcrete on time. Because of the con-crete pouring requirements of this pro-ject, we can’t afford any unscheduleddowntime.”

The Perfect CombinationIt’s all about value and affordability, says LeFebvre of the company’s 120 trucks operating out of eightlocations across the Upper Midwest.“Between the great product supportwe get at Rihm Kenworth in St. Paul,

Minn., the service we get from otherlocal Kenworth dealers, and thequality trucks, it all makes theperfect combination.”

A heavy haul company, LeFebvreCompanies delivers site-specificconstruction material for three ofthe largest pipe fabricators in theU.S. The backbone of the fleetconsists of Kenworth T800s, withseveral W900s for hauling bridgegirders.

“We spec Kenworth T800s with theCaterpillar C13 engine, primarily forits weight-to-horsepower ratio, andEaton transmissions with lockingdifferentials,” says LeFebvre. “It’s awork truck. The guys really like theway it performs in the field with its

maneuverability and easyturning radius in tight places.”

With trucks averaging only 70,000miles per year, trade-in cycles oftenextend to seven years. “Even thoughwe don’t have a lot of miles on ourtrucks, it’s important for us to have agood, solid chassis at the end of ourseven-year cycle,” says LeFebvre. “Wehave that with the Kenworth T800s,as well as a list of buyers waiting topurchase our trucks.”

For product dependability, ruggeddurability in tough, heavy-haulingapplications, and consistently highresale value, Kenworth has helpedLeFebvre Companies build a qualityimage across three generations offamily ownership.

“We don’t have a problem with driver retentionand we attribute that to our equipment.”

Three years ago, Lake Stevens, Wash.-based Rockman,LLC was “a truck brokerage company, hiring independenttruckers to pick up dirt and rock, then reselling it to con-sumers,” recalls Chris Miller, the company’s chairman.“As a small company, we were spending over a milliondollars a year for trucking services.”

With expansion plans in the offing, Miller and companypresident Jerry Perkl visited with the PacLease team anddiscussed a lease program that would allow them toexpand operations and cut costs at the same time.

“What sold us was service support,” says Miller.“PacLease and Kenworth Northwest have shops near byand are available 24/7. That, coupled with how theycould benefit us from a cash-flow standpoint madeleasing from PacLease a smart decision. We ended upleasing six T800 dump trucks and pup trailers.PacLease worked with us to get the specs we needed tomaximize payload.”

Leasing has not only improved Rockman’sproductivity and service; it has maximized thecompany’s credit. “Through leasing and how it’scarried on our balance sheet, we can go to banks forother money or lines of credit,” Miller says. “That’shelped us expand even faster.”

When Winnipeg Motor Express (WME) leased its firstKenworth trucks in 2003, the Canadian long-haulcarrier teamed with PACCAR Financial (PFC). WMEknew it had the right financial partner from thebeginning.

“With our first leased trucks, PFC handled the financialapproval process and administrative matters smoothly, which enabled us to put trucks on the road right away,”says Brian Page, WME President. “They helped keep our‘unseated’ days, or time when trucks aren’t running, to aminimum. That means lower costs of operation.”

Winnipeg, Manitoba-based WME leased 25 KenworthT800s in 2003, another 20 T800s in 2004, and 30 morein 2005. The vehicles are financed through 4-year TRACleases that give WME an option to buy the tractors at afixed residual price.

When the long haul-carrier wanted to pair T800s andtrailers, PFC arranged leasing with the different suppliers.“It simplified our world by not having to deal with twofinancing sources,” Page says. “In this complex world, itis a relief to our company not to have to worry abouttruck financing.”
