BLOOD DRIVE

By the grace of Allah, the 7th Annual Blood Drive and the first ever Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Drive (GTA) was held on December 5th, 2009 at the Ba`itul Islam Mosque. The target assigned to us by the Canadian Blood Services was 110 units, however, by the grace of Allah a total of 120 units were donated. One of the most important aspects of this clinic was the Marrow/Stem Cell Drive for the first time in which 162 donors registered. According to the Canadian Blood Services, this has instantly increased the total num-ber of South Asian Bone Marrow registrants in Canada by 3 percent, Alhamdulillah! The One Match and South Asians For Life organizers were at a loss for words at the response and selflessness shown by the members of the Ahmadiyya Community as a whole and Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya in particular. Below is a breakdown of the GTA Blood Drive: Central North: 82 registrants Central West: 36 registrants Central South: 35 registrants Central East: 20 registrants Peel South: 1 registrant Total registrants: 174 Total Blood donations: 120 (100 repeat donors, 74 brand new donors) Total Bone Marrow/Stem Cell donors: 164, all brand new donors By the grace of Allah the total collection for all of 2009 was 397 units; far exceeding the target of 300 units pledged to Canadian Blood Services.

These meetings were an informal forum in which Khuddam introduced themselves to each other sharing their family, educational and professional background as well as their involvement in Jama’at work.
