Your Guide to Wedding Ceremonies and Receptions at Kidderminster Town Hall
Welcome to Kidderminster Town Hall
The Town Hall is a fine Victorian Grade II listed Music Hall set in the heart of Kidderminster’s Conservation area incorporating The Kidderminster Registration Office .
This Landmark building has played a central role in the district’s social calendar since opening in 1855. Still resonating off the walls are the speeches made by eminent leaders Winston Churchill, Emmeline Pankhurst and Earnest Shackleton and great music from The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who.
Today the Town Hall is still considered to be Wyre Forests number one live entertainment venue.
The Town Hall is the New Home of the Kidderminster Registration Service whose team are dedicated to tailoring your celebration to reflect your own personal wishes and will combine their considerable experience to ensure that you not only have a day to remember but one that you feel is truly yours.
Other ceremonies provided by the Registration Service and Kidderminster Town Hall include Bespoke Ceremonies, Civil Partnership conversions to Marriage, Commitment Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows and Naming Ceremonies.
With this brochure comes our invitation for you to view our facilities and to meet the key members of staff involved in your special day.

The Town Hall is licensed to host Weddings in feature rooms to include:
The King Charles Suite: With feature oak panel walls, painted glass window, 17th century King’s Charter and Thompson’s famous mouse furniture. This room is the perfect choice for the smaller more intimate affair, being licensed for up to 80 guests.
The Music Room: Is our largest room and seats up to 400 guests. The 9th Century William Hill Organ encased in a Baroque style surround forms a magnificent back drop to this room with its elegant high ceiling and balcony.
The Victorian Court Room:
Is located on the first floor and until recently was used as a Crown Court. Following the ceremony couples are able to gain access to the dock, witness stand and judge’s chair for memorable photograph’s, making this room ideal for couples looking for something a little different from the “norm”. The Court room is also ideal to capture a fun photo opportunity.
Photo opportunities also present themselves within the Mayors Parlour, Mayoral Balcony and The Main Portrait Staircase.
The Venues
The Wedding
Your Big Day has arrived the Wedding Coordinator or Duty Manager will be there to greet you as your wedding car draws up at the Town Hall. You Wedding Party will be escorted into the Mayor’s Parlour to await the welcome from the Registrar.We will assist you in lining up your Wedding Party outside the Wedding Room.The doors are opened, your music of choice is playing gently, family and friends are standing, heads turning to gain their first glimpse as you make your way slowly up the aisle to begin your new life together
Town Hall ReceptionsFollowing your Marriage you may wish to continue to celebrate here with us at the Town Hall.
The Music Room has a large stage, LED lighting, Star Dressing Room and professional technical set up, to accommodate your Wedding Band and Disco.This room can be combined with the Corn Exchange Room which creates the perfect space to hold your wedding breakfast and evening reception where you and your guests can dance the night away.
Couples are able to choose from any of the Town Hall’s highly recommended preferred suppliers or you can also contract your own choice of caterer, DJ , Wedding Band, Florist and Venue Dresser.
We are happy to discuss any aspect of your ceremony so please feel free to contact us. Everyone is different and we want to provide the perfect day for you. Please remember that any music, readings, or vows should be of a non religious nature. However there is plenty of choice and it is the readings, poems, special vows and music that make each ceremony unique. If after you have made your booking you need to change the date or time please notify the registration service in order that they can accommodate your request.
Giving Notice of Marriage
You must give notice of your intention to marry before you can marry in a registration office, approved premise, church or chapel in England and Wales (other than a Church of England where you may have banns called),
Each person wanting to marry has to give their own notice of intention to marry to the Superintendent Registrar or nominated deputy in the area in which they reside. This is a legal requirement and failure to give notice will result in the ceremony no being able to take place. Both parties must have resided in a district in England or Wales for at least 7 whole days immediately prior to giving a Notice of Marriage.
The legal notice waiting period changed to at least 28 days before the ceremony. A notice period of 70 days may be needed if either of the parties is not an EEA national. Your local registration office will be pleased to advise you further. During the waiting period your notice will go on public display at our Register Office and at the end of the waiting period your authorities for marriage will be issued.
You will still be able to marry in any register office or approved premise in England or Wales irrespective of where you live, and your notice can still be taken up to one year in advance of the date of your wedding. A fee is charged for each notice given.
If either you or your partner is subject to immigration control then each of you need to give Notice of Marriage at a designated registration office.

Arrival
It is very important for you and your guests to arrive at least 10 minutes earlier than the time of your ceremony. This will allow you to be interviewed before the ceremony and for your guests to be seated. You will be greeted by the Registrar who will see the bride and groom privately to check details and take fees for the marriage ceremony and certificate.
Flowers
All Registration Office ceremony rooms are tastefully decorated with appropriate floral displays. However, you may wish to make your own floral arrangements, in which case, please discuss your requirements with the Superintendent Registrar of the District concerned.
Music
All the Registration Offices have music systems and CD players with a selection of suitable music. Should you have a favourite or meaningful piece of music you wish to be played at your ceremony, discuss it with the Superintendent Registrar well before the day who will be happy to advise you.
Witnesses
The law requires that you be accompanied by at least two credible witnesses at your wedding. They may be relatives, friends or colleagues who must be able to speak and understand English.
Recording the Event
A wedding album is a very special memento we are happy to allow photography in the marriage room at specified times. A single video recording is also permitted, but please inform the Superintendent Registrar beforehand.
On The Day
When giving a notice of marriage, each party will need to produce proof of identity (name, age, marital status and nationality), together with evidence of place of residence. Verifying documents include full birth certificate, current passports, driving licences, change of name statements and divorce documents. Our staff will be happy to advise further.
If either of you has been married before, either in this country or abroad, you will need to show proof of your divorce. If either of you was divorced in England or Wales, we will need to see a court-stamped copy of the decree absolute (the final divorce paper). If the divorce took place in a foreign country, we will need to see the original document issued by that country and an English translation, if the document is in a foreign language. If no documents were issued in the foreign country, we will tell you what we can accept as proof of the divorce.
If either of you is a widow or widower we will need to see a certified copy of your former partner’s death certificate from the registration authority of the country where your former partner died. Also, the widow needs to show a copy of the marriage certificate.
If you have married each other in a foreign country you only need to get married here if you think that marriage was not legal. If you decide to get married here we will need to see any documents issued by that country when you give us notice of your marriage.
If either of you is under 18, we will need to see proof that your parents or guardian agree to the marriage. If your parents are divorced we may also need to see the court order that gives custody to one of them. The Registration Staff will give you advice on this matter.
