The only parents allowed to use the car park are the parents who display a Disability Sticker on their car or have approval from me due to their child suffering an injury that prevents them walking long distances. The car park is extremely busy in the morning and directly after school. We can not allow any parent to park in our car park or otherwise we would have everyone in the car park. Please do not break the rules that have been put in place to protect our students. PARENTS IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL AND STUDENTS ARRIVING EARLY TO SCHOOL - We actively encourage parents to walk their students to school. However we would appreciate it if you drop them at the school gate and let them be independent by coming onto the school grounds by themselves. We are having lots of parents waiting with their children in areas that are out of bounds for students in the morning. This is creating issues in regards to effective supervision by staff. There is also a safety issue for staff when parents are in the COLA at 8.40am as teachers have to worry about the adults and not the children. Supervision commences at 8.40am. All students must sit on the silver seats before 8.40am. We are having students arrive at school from as early as 7.30am. In the middle of winter this is extremely unfair on your child. Students should not start arriving at school until at least 8.30am and we should not have parents waiting in the school grounds from this time either. In the afternoon we have no issue with parents being in the school waiting to pick up their children. However could you ensure that your meeting area is away from classrooms so that teachers can effectively teach until 3pm. Your co-operation in these areas would be appreciated. STAFF CARPARK - Could I ask parents not to use the staff car park to drop off or pick up their children. The only

parents allowed to use the car park are the parents who display a Disability Sticker on their car or have approval from me

due to their child suffering an injury that prevents them walking long distances.

The car park is extremely busy in the morning and directly after school. We can not allow any parent to park in our car park

or otherwise we would have everyone in the car park. Please do not break the rules that have been put in place to protect our

students.

PARENTS IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL AND STUDENTS ARRIVING

EARLY TO SCHOOL - We actively encourage parents to walk their students to school. However we would appreciate it

if you drop them at the school gate and let them be independent by coming onto the school grounds by themselves. We are

having lots of parents waiting with their children in areas that are out of bounds for students in the morning. This is creating

issues in regards to effective supervision by staff. There is also a safety issue for staff when parents are in the COLA at

8.40am as teachers have to worry about the adults and not the children. Supervision commences at 8.40am. All students

GALA DAY - A huge thank you to all the students, staff and parents who made Gala Day such a wonderful success. The

weather held off for us and the students had a fabulous time participating in all the fun activities organised by every class.

We were able to make over $6000 which will be given to our major charity Stewart House later in the year. Well done

KLPS!!!

STUDENT REPORTS - Student reports will be distributed on Wednesday 28th June. Please take the time to sit down with

your child and read the report together. Praise them for their report in Semester 1 and set goals for the Semester 2 report that

are achievable, so that your child has something to strive for in the second half of the year. If you would like to discuss your

child’s report with their teacher please contact the school to arrange an appointment at a mutually agreeable time.

GOOD LUCK - I would like to wish our Senior Dance group the best of luck when they perform at the Sydney Eisteddfod

on Sunday 25th June.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS FOR 2018 - It is the time of the year where we start asking for Enrolment Forms

for students who live within our school boundaries who will be commencing Kindergarten in 2018.

Parents who have children who will be commencing in Kindergarten in 2018 are asked to obtain an Enrolment Form from

the office. Staffing for 2018 is based on our predicted enrolment figures so accurate information is required. It would be

appreciated if this information could be brought to the attention of any neighbours who have a child ready to start

Kindergarten next year and live within our enrolment boundaries. We would like completed Enrolment Forms returned to

the office by the end of this term. Your assistance in this area would be greatly appreciated.

When you return your Enrolment Form to the office you will need to provide the following documents:

Birth Certificate or Passport

Up to date Immunization (showing ‘all vaccines required by 5 years of age’ appearing on the bottom of the form)

Proof of residence X 2 eg utility bill

MULTICULTURALPERSPECTIVES PUBLIC SPEAKING LOCAL AREA FINAL

On Tuesday 13th June I was lucky enough to attend the Local Area Final of the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking

Competition at Matthew Pearce PS. I heard some amazing speakers from Years 3 to 6. Elina Y and Joshua B represented

KLPS in the Stage 2 section of the competition. Sarah A-T and Josaia D were our Stage 3 representatives. They all spoke

brilliantly. It is such a treat to sit and listen to such capable, engaging speakers.

Elina spoke about Harmony Day, while Joshua told us all about Refugees, in particular Aliir Aliir, a refugee from Sudan

who is now a Sydney Swan. They then did some very quick thinking to plan their impromptu speech on the topic ‘Holidays’.

Sarah told us how Advance Australia Fair is an anthem that embraces our multicultural society and Josaia told us about how

‘Sport breaks down barriers’. When he lived in France he found that sport speaks a universal language and allows everyone

to take part, no matter their race or religion. Their impromptu topic was ‘Escape’.

What wonderful speakers! Well done to all of the children for their efforts! Thanks also to the parents and grandparent who

came along to support their children. I know they were as proud as me!
