Newsletter

Term 3, Week 9 Tuesday 17th September 2019

Dear Parents and Kingstown Community,

Firstly, as it was SASS recognition week (a

week back!), I would like to take this

newsletter opportunity on behalf of our

school community, to thank Mrs Patch and

Angie Swales for their valued contribution

to our school. What would we do without

you both! Also Mr Jackson and Mr Bell.

(They are not actually in this category but

we appreciate them as well!)

The School Term ends on Friday 27th

September and students return Monday

14th October. Thunderbolt Alliance staff will

attend Professional Learning and CPR at

Rocky River on Monday evening after

school. This will be in place of the School

Development Day on Friday 20th

December.

Well another unwelcome dust storm a

week ago was not what we wanted!

Returning from the Sydney Excursion, the

clouds of dust in the distance were a

confronting site.

The students’ Marimba Performance at

the Opera House was wonderful, as was

the busking at Bondi (where they each

earned $10!) and the entire Sydney

experience! There were forty three

students altogether, from five small

schools. There is so much to do in Sydney

and I am looking forward to taking senior

students down again to the School

Spectacular. The Marimba Performance

was only one special part of this jammed

packed Sydney experience. It was worth

every minute!

We would like to thank Mr Spillane for his

fantastic organisation and Mrs Matthews

for getting the students up to speed. They

both did such a great job! And of course

our students who represent Kingstown

School. They are always tremendously

polite and respectful.

PSSA Tamworth

Well done to Ryan and Gemma who

participated in the PSSA in Tamworth.

Year 3/5 Naplan

Online results are now available to School

Principals. Parent letters should be arriving

at school this week. It is rewarding to see

impressive student growth.

Please contact the school to arrange an

interview time if you wish to discuss your

child’s Naplan results or Term Two student

report, or just have a catch up chat.

School Play - Charlie and the

Chocolate Factory

The students are enjoying working on the

school play. As always, it is a team effort to

bring it to its culmination. Thank you to Miss

Burton for the costume research and Mrs

Patch for ordering the Blueberry costume,

Oompa Loompa socks and wigs on Friday,

and of course, Tammy and Tabby for

kicking off the props! We need to organise

a better lunch for you girls!! I think we are

now on schedule!!! We will send home a

character costume sheet in the next week.

School Trees

Recently we have had an arborist visit our

school to address the identified and

labelled tree problems. Unfortunately

some trees have had to be cut down. In

these high winds it is essential that we

address tree issues. A couple of the very

tall poplars at the back of the school were

actually hollow inside and quite

dangerous in high winds.

Rugby Touch Gala Day

Well done to our Senior Touch team who

did a brilliant job at the Touch Gala Day

last Tuesday. I was very proud to hear

positive comments about their ability to

play as a team and pass the ball!

Although it was a fun and not a

competitive day, they won each game

and showed great sportsmanship. What a

pleasure they are to take to events.
