KINTBURY ST MARY’S PRIMARY SCHOOL HEAD TEACHER MRS MELANIE HIGGS
Trust and truthfulness
Our collective worship this morning was led by Mrs Wolak from COINS and focused on the theme of trust. The children al-
ways enjoy having visitors in school and the have previously made fantastic links between being truthful (our termly value)
and being trusted. Mrs Wolak used drama to explore the story of Abraham and how he trusted in God and she also intro-
duced the children to a fantastic new song with great accompanying actions.
Book Fair and World Book Day
The book fair has been really successful this year – there is one last chance to purchase after school today. Thank you for
your support and thanks to Mrs Bennet for organising this and to all the wonderful staff who have given up their time to run
the book fair after school. It’s lovely to see the children excited by browsing through the different books and to listen to them
discussing their favourite authors.
Staff have lots of reading related fun organised for Thursday and are currently planning their fancy dress outfits. We can’t
wait to see the children’s costumes to find out who or what has inspired them in their reading.
Our extreme reading competition has resulted in some super entries. We will be judging these as part of World Book Day on
Thursday. It’s not too late if you still have entries – please do bring them in as the photos will be used to create a reading
display in the school.
Understanding anxiety workshop
The understanding anxiety workshop delivered by Melissa Hutchings last week was very well attended and we have had a
lot of positive feedback about how useful this was for those who were there. Melissa Hutchings has a wealth of knowledge
in this area and provided lots of practical take home tips which I suspect have already been put into practice. We will look to
provide more parent workshops in the future so if you have any particular requests, please do let us know.
Keeping in touch
Thank you for a super turnout at our parents’ evening appointments. I know our teachers really valued the opportunity to
give you information about how your children are getting on at school. I hope you also appreciated the opportunity to share
your views with members of the school’s governing body and to view some of the brilliant work from our Aspirations Week.
If you still need to make an appointment to see your child’s teacher, please do give the office a call.
Sporting endeavours
Good luck to our netball team who will be playing their last match for the season against Hungerford on Wednesday. Our
team have been improving in every match and we’re sure they will finish with a strong performance. Good luck also to our
Year 4 boys who will be taking part in the indoor football tournament at Trinity on Wednesday.
Wishing you all a wonderful week.

Active Kids Vouchers
Active Kids Vouchers are available to collect from all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol sta-tions and when ordering online between now and 2nd May. Please ask friends, family and neighbours to help us collect as many vouchers as possible. In previous years we have collected valuable sports equipment and cameras for our school. Thank you!
Jars for Finches
Please can anyone donate glass jars with lids, completely clean and preferably with no label, by March 17th? Finches would like them for a craft activity. The ideal size is something like a Colman’s sauce jar or maybe a bit smaller. Please bring any dona-tions to the office or the Finches classroom. Thank you!
