5.3.3 Requirements PWhen the supply disconnecting device is one ofthe types specified in 5.3.2 a) to d) it shall fulfil allof the following requirements

– isolate the electrical equipment from the supplyand have one OFF (isolated) and oneON position marked with "O" and "I" (symbolsIEC 60417-5008 (DB:2002-10) and IEC 60417-5007 (DB:2002-10), see 10.2.2);

– have a visible contact gap or a positionindicator which cannot indicate OFF (isolated)until all contacts are actually open and therequirements for the isolating function havebeen satisfied;

– have an external operating means (for examplehandle), (exception: power-operated switchgearneed not be operable from outside the enclosurewhere there are other means to open it). Wherethe external operating means is not intended foremergency operations, it is recommended that itbe coloured BLACK or GREY (see 10.7.4 and10.8.4);

The calculated breaking capacitymay be reduced by the use of a proven diversityfactor. When the interlocked switching device iselectrically operated (for example a contactor) itshall have an appropriate utilisation category.
