Living Tree & Park Bench MemorialsHelp improve the quality of life and the environment by having a tree planted in one of your Dyer Parks to remember or honor a person or organization. A minimum donation of $500 will purchase a tree, plaque, and a take home plaque. You may designate the park but Dyer Parks & Recreation will determine the exact location. Trees are planted each fall.

Park Bench Memorials are also available. For a donation of $850 we will install a park bench with a plaque on the seat back of the bench in a park of your choice. Exact locations will be determined by staff but suggestions are welcome. For more information on either program contact Dyer Parks & Recreation at (219) 865-2505.

PARK RULESThe Town of Dyer

has installed a Thor Guard Lightning Prediction

and Warning System. 10 satellites have been stationed at the

following locations:

Main Satellites: Plum Creek Center, Dyer Fire Department Station 2Remote Satellite: Autumn Chase Park, Sandy Ridge Water Tower, Northgate Park, Heritage Estates Park, Eberly Park, Hearthstone Park, Mallard Cove Water Tower, Dyer Public Works

These sites were chosen to give proper coverage throughout Dyer. The Thor Guard System predicts

lightning and constantly monitors the local environment and focuses on predicting whether or not there is enough

energy change to create a lightning strike in our area.

Once lightning is predicted, the main satellite will send a signal to the remote satellite and you will hear a 15

second horn blast. This signals that lightning is coming to the area. At that time, everyone should seek shelter and

all outdoor activities should stop. A strobe light will begin to flash and remain flashing until safe conditions return.

Once lightning is cleared from the area, you will hear three 5 second horn blast signaling all is safe and outdoor

activities can resume.

The Thor Guard System will be active between the hours of 10am-8pm Monday – Friday and 9am-8pm on Saturdays & Sundays, roughly March-October. For more information about the Thor Guard Lightning Prediction and Warning System please visit www.thorguard.com

WINTER/SPRING 2020

LEVEL 1: AGES NEWBORN – 2 YEARS OLD(lap babies, crawlers and young toddlers)With parent/caregiver participation - Min 5/Max 8

LEVEL 3: CHILDREN 3 ½ - 5 YEARS OLDWith parent/caregiver participation last 15 minutes(14-week session) Min 5/Max 8

LEVEL 2: CHILDREN 2 – 3 1/2 YEARS OLD With parent/caregiver participation - Min 5/Max 8

Level 1 classes offer a sensory-rich, yet caring and gentle environment where infants and young

toddlers will explore and react to new sounds, sensations, objects, and movements. Classes will also provide children with a stimulating setting to explore their new movement and language skills with a sense of security, comfort, and confidence. 14 week sessionCock-a-doodle Moo! explores a farm theme through music, motion, and multisensory activities. Baby will enjoy the movement of a “hayride,” the vocal play and discovery using farm animal sounds (cock-a-doodle-OINK!), and lots of singing activities ranging from classic favorites like Old MacDonald and You Are My Sunshine to a Swedish rhythm song and a beautiful Armenian lullaby. (7 weeks)Dew Drops: DewDrops takes Baby and Parent/Caregiver into the middle of a flower garden, seeing the DewDrops glisten in the morning sun and feeling the cool breeze blow, a true multi-sensory experience! Varying styles of music are represented from the lively Celtic dance of the Belfast Hornpipe to the gentle, soothing melody of Scarborough Fair. Whether hammocking, dancing a jig, exploring a drum, singing a lullaby or using a mirror in vocal play activities, Baby and Caregiver can celebrate the joys of music and their special relationship. (7 weeks)

Level 3 classes are designed to engage preschoolers’ natural love of music and activate their imaginations,

while developing their growing language and social-emotional skills.

The class is designed for children to attend without an adult for about 35 minutes and then parents/caregivers and siblings join the class for the last 15 minutes for sharing time. The first class the parents attend the full class without siblings and there will be no sharing time.

TOYS I MAKE, TRIPS I TAKE — Think of it like taking a course inside a child’s imagination. We’ll use the theme of a toy shop to make our pretend-creations, using rhythm and songs with every imaginary saw, hammer, and nail. The result is building the preschooler’s sense of a sequence of events, which is good for storytelling, as well as making his ideas a reality.

GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND COME EXPERIENCE A KINDERMUSIK PLAYDATE! If you’ve never done Kindermusik, this is a

great introduction to the program. If you have participated, this is an opportunity to continue

your musical fun until the new session begins in February. For children ages Newborn to 5 years old.

Minimum of 4/maximum of 10Level 2 classes encourage older toddlers to initiate their own ideas, nurturing social-emotional growth and cognitive development in a playful, exploratoryenvironment. 14 week session

Away We Go!: Away We Go! will focus on things that go, leading you in an exploration into the world of transportation. “What are things that go?” “How do they go?” “How do they sound when they go?” “Can I go like that?” “Can I make sounds like that?” Guided by these simple questions we will journey through developmentally appropriate activities relating to trains, cars, buses, horses, wagons, airplanes, and boats. (14 weeks)

to be as fluid, functional and liberated as possible in physical movement and to overcome physical obstacles. Our program will focus on specific elements of obstacle course training. Our younger classes are developed to safely get

children moving and exploring the very new world around them, to inherently build confidence in each step and define their most formative years with a strong base of control. Our classes will consist of two major components:
