At Louis Poulsen, we believe the right lighting can improve people’s well-

being and experience of indoor and outdoor spaces. At work, and in their

leisure time. Our light fixtures have been used in countless projects around

the world, where we can proudly report that customers share our views on

Louis Poulsen’s light fixtures provide quality lighting for thousands of peo-

ple every day, around the world. From when they rise in the morning, go

tion properly.

Research results have shown that light plays an impor-

tant role in learning and concentration. The right

amount and type of light can actually improve results.

Leisure time and holidays are tightly bound up with comfort and well-be-

ing. When we finally have leisure time, we want the surroundings to be

beautiful and pleasant – a joy for all the senses. Light is important for set-

ting the mood and has a major impact on our overall impression and stay.

The experiences which awaken our emotions and stimulate our senses are

often those we enjoy most and best remember. Lighting can help frame

the setting and create calm and focus. Good experiences are a matter of

taste, but the road to them is often the same for everyone.

Institutions & Public Buildings

Work, presentations, meetings, lunch and chatting with colleagues. Our workplace

is the setting for a range of activities which place quite varied demands on furnish-

ings, function and lighting. To illuminate buildings such as these optimally, a wide

range of needs have to be identified and met.

Flexibility is a constant challenge, and the mood has to be efficient and pleasant

at the same time. This requires differentiation, as well as an eye for creating cohe-

sion and continuity. When done properly, the result is comfortable office environ-

ments where people thrive and have ideal working conditions.

Merchandise areas

Attractive stores and inviting cafés. A pleasant and

relaxed atmosphere. Lots of exciting and inspiring

experiences. Merchandise areas must create the

perfect setting for shopping. From open pedestri-

an high streets in city centres to large shopping

centres, they have to give customers a good expe-

rience, and the desire to come back again.

The ambience will determine whether customers

enjoy themselves and take time to explore the

stores. As international brands develop and the

battle for customers’ attention intensifies, the at-

mosphere and comfort level in shopping areas are

increasingly the factors which determine the flow

of customers.

Offices & Corporate buildings

Well-being and efficiency are key to a company’s operations. Employees are the

raw material, and the way they are treated is critical to the results. People need

good conditions in order to perform well, and a focus on the working environment

can promote company growth.

Thousands of people spend long working days in offices, meeting rooms, auditori-

ums and cafeterias. This places great and diverse demands on the general and in-

dividual lighting. Good task lighting is essential for people to give their best per-

formance.

Public Spaces

Experience the city bathed in light. Spend time in streets and squares at nightfall

and feel how the impressions change and become more intense. As dusk de-

scends, the city centre’s function and ambience changes. The silhouettes of towers

and new skyscrapers step into view as night landmarks in the metropolises of the

world.

Well-being, security and orientation are three key parameters which determine

whether people feel comfortable. A city’s lighting must therefore never be consid-

ered from a purely functional viewpoint. It must always take into account the emo-

tions and perceptions of the many people who live in, use and visit the city.

Residential

Our home is our base. This is where we relax, spend time together and recharge

for the next day’s activities. Home lighting has to be able to do everything – fulfil

the basic functional requirements and create a pleasant ambience. Light therefore

has to be flexible and able to adapt to the changing ways rooms are used through-

out the day.

The light is changed, and a kitchen is transformed from a meeting room into a an

inviting bar, a lounge room changes from an office into an atmospheric restaurant,

and a bathroom changes from a wash room into a spa. Modern families place great

demands on their homes, but a creative focus on the lighting is an extremely sim-

ple and effective tool for optimally utilising each room.

Sport & Leisure

Enthusiasm. Anger. Disappointment. Ecstasy. The world of

sports can bring out our strongest emotions. And it is not only

the players and athletes who face challenges. The environment

has to create the ideal conditions for the sports activity, as well

as a pleasant setting for relaxation and fellowship.

Atmosphere and functionality are vital, whether we are enjoy-

ing the quiet and beautiful setting of the golf club, or watching

our team in the stadium from the grandstand. The lighting has

to be able to fulfil the aesthetic requirements, provide good ori-

entation and withstand the frustration of some visitors.

Transportation

Close your eyes and picture the atmosphere at a railway station or airport – the

large number of people, the busy mood, the fleeting impressions and the gazes

searching signs and screens. Furnishings and design play a key role in whether

people can find their way around and feel secure in traffic hubs. The outward fac-

tors influence the inner ones.

Transportation from one place to another is not only functional, but often an emo-

tional journey as well. The architect has the job of creating a good setting for de-

parting, travelling and arriving. We must always consider the people, and give

them an attractive and comfortable setting in which to properly say hello and

goodbye.

Lighting projects cannot always be implemented using a standard product. At Lou-

is Poulsen we have the distinct pleasure of working with bold architects and devel-

opers around the world to develop new fixtures for specific projects.

We are regularly involved in custom design projects with our partners, where we

create new products which precisely fulfil the function, comfort and ambience re-

quirements. In this process we naturally stand behind the durability and aesthetic

expression of the fixtures, but particularly the quality of the lighting itself. Lighting

is always our focal point, and is our reason for existence.

Light Concept: The fixture emits light directed mainly downwards. The fixture is available in three diffuser vari-ants. The basic and dome versions have a clear diffuser and have a 100% downward light distribution. The opal version has an opal acrylic top which helps to illuminate the actual fixture while also functioning as a directional marker. Furthermore the opal version is also available with an acrylic lower shade which emits a glowing decorative lighting effect.
